I was wondering how does PL20 perform when compared to PL30?
I understand that both of them are priced differently (with the latter priced more expensively than the first), so in theory, PL30 is supposed to be better than PL20? Just wondering if these two differ a lot as I'm looking to buy either PL20 or PL30; as PL20 is about RM60 and PL30 is about RM100 in here. So yea, any comments or opinions are appreciated |

QUOTE(Chihuahua @ Apr 6 2009, 01:14 PM) I was wondering how does PL20 perform when compared to PL30? Finally got my PL-30 today... all the way from Hong Kong.
My first impression about it............. awesomeness The SQ for the mids and the highs can really be heard clearly with it... unlike my EP-630 which you basically hear more bass. But still the bass is not that bad... when turned on to the max is about 70% comparable to the EP-630 but its not the 'dubs dubs' kind of bass la. It still has the punch. One thing I don't understand tho... the grey and black earbuds are indentical is it? Cos they both seem to have the same 3 sizes I am currently using the double flange earbud and its quite good. OK so I've tested both running on some techno songs, as I think it's the best to hear the bass difference.
Paired with E5, PL20 sounded better in terms of bass, which it's kinda lacked off. Bijou4 + E5 however, don't really sounded significant though. Clarity part, somehow I'm more incline towards PL20. Maybe is because the eartip I using, but I never really liked Bijou's stock eartips. PL20 uses the M size eartip. Maybe changing the different eartips might improve the result, but that one need more time to play around with those stuffs.... Hopefully this can help. |

Holy Smokes...
I have never believed in burn-ins but after doing a 12hr burn-in for my PL-30 there is a big difference! The bass is more heavier and has exceeded my EP-630.... the mids are starting to get more clearer but no difference in the highs. Still the same. The only drawback abt the PL-30 is that it takes a lil more time to put in on to get the right fit due to the 'special' over-the-ear design. Overall I am very happy and would strongly recommend to all SoundMagic lovers Btw, Focal Price is selling it on sale now for USD$19.75 (I bought 2 weeks ago for USD$22.31 Anyway go check it out if you want: http://www.focalprice.com/Genuine_Sound_Ma...P074B_6414.html Its about RM67.15... quite a good deal Added on April 13, 2009, 11:25 amIs this thread dying so fast? Btw I would like to know anyone here has both the PL-20 and PL-30? Can do a bit comparison for us? This post has been edited by J-Slade: Apr 13 2009, 11:25 AM |

QUOTE ClieOS - headfi's famous IEM review writer. Comments on PL11 - SOURCE PL11's review, any bass lover could take this as reference Variation: N/A Transducer: Single 9mm Dynamic Spec: 12Ω (@1kHz) | 20Hz~ 22kHz | 97+3dB SPL | 12g Cord Style: Y-cord, 1.2m. Mini Jack Style: {┃} style, light build. Eartips Used: Single flange Physical Properties: ┣ Packaging: ★★★☆ ┣ Accessories: ★★★☆ ┣ Build Quality: ★★★ ┣ Isolation: ★★★☆ ┣ Microphonics: ★★★ ┣ Comfort: ★★★★★ ┗ Quick Sum: Packaging and build quality is basically consistent with the other SoundMAGIC products I reviewed (decent for the price). Accessories is about the same as PL20 - eartips (3 sized), Shure olive style foam tips, shirt clip, silicone cable warp, and a soft pouch. The earpieces has better isolation than those previously reviewed SoundMAGIC's but microphonics is also more of an issue. You probably will need to use the included shirt clip. Sound Quality: ┣ Treble: ★★☆ ┣ Mid: ★★★ ┣ Bass: ★★★ ┣ Soundstage: ▄ ▂ ▂ ▂ ▂ ▂ ▄ [Small / Acceptable] ┣ ABF: [Low] ┣ Overall SQ: [ 2.4 / 5] ┗ Quick Sum: The overall sound signature is on the warm side with big bass. Treble is actually as good as PL20 but fine detail tend to get flooded by the bigger bass. Mid performance is also on par on PL20, but doesn't suffer the bass flooding issue. Due to the lost of fine detail, soundstage isn't as wide as PL20, but overall acceptable. In a way, you can say PL11 is bass enhanced PL20. If you want big bass, PL11 is the one for you. Overall Value: [ 4.3 / 5] - US$13~18 (price depends on dealer) Final Remark: Like PL20, PL11 is another very decent IEM of its price. It seems SoundMAGIC really has a strong point at making affordable good budget class IEM. You simply can't go wrong with any of its product - all you need to do is to figure out which IEM has the right sound signature you are looking for. |

QUOTE(freedom8901 @ Apr 30 2009, 06:10 PM) PL11 has better bass (unlike the muddy bloated bass of EP-630), better mid (sweet and well define), much better treble (lacking in EP-630), slightly better soundstage, and better accessories. The only up side about EP-630 is the cable quality (not a big problem if you take care of PL11) and the slightly smaller earpieces (not really that small anyway)Like I said, miles ahead. |

QUOTE(Kyl3 @ Apr 30 2009, 07:43 PM) I prefer X3 over PL30. In fact, I prefer PL20 and PL11 over PL30. The problem with PL30 is the fit. No matter which eartips I used, I can never get a good seal for more than 5 minutes. So even thought PL20 and PL11 sound not as detail nor as specious as PL30, I still prefer them, especially consider them both have better bass than PL30. If you want to try some different from X3, PL11 will be more fitting. It is still very close to X3 level but with a different sound signature. |
