Ive read that Mac dun have to worry abt virus (fr www.apple.com) and like my friends said is easy and much friendly then windows. I wanna have a new PC or Mac for my house. Main purpose is photo, edit , browsing , email, .... And mostly are arranging photos fr my work. I receive alot of photos (around 2mb each) almost everyday fr my office. Wanna do backup all those photos fr my office as well.
By the way the new iMac one is rm5499 and better spec is rm6499. Worth the extra thousand for the better spec? I didnt feel it's faster when trying out.
Added on September 19, 2010, 1:19 pmHi sifu
Thanks for the explain and reply. Do you install window on your Mac? XP? Win7? Will it cause any prob? Crash? Freeze If I wanna run both OS with iMac?
Yeah one make me worry is dun wanna end up not using it coz it is alot money to invest. Just worry I'm too old to learn the new OS by myself alone

Is it no different to buy it from pavilion, MV or online? Apple do free delivery to our house right?
Do you recommend the extra care? For extra three yrs warranty?
Seem like apple products ate good. Dun know do I need it?

Maybe after I clear all my doubts then I might go get one
Again thank you so much foe reply and appreciated your help and time.

No offense, actually I think win XP and 7 are not much different.
Thanks again for ya

for photo, browsing, email, seems like iMac is a good choice. the 27" IPS panel is amazing for photo editing. get an external HDD n use time machine for ur backups

as for the 5499 n 6499 model, for me the 1k difference is reasonable but it depends on how much power u need. the 5499 model is pretty fast already. of course u wont notice any difference when 'trying it out', since u probably didnt do anything heavy and actually measure anything anyway. even mac mini n mac pro also almost no difference unless u do heavy tasks

i'd go for the 5499 n spend 1k on applecare proctection plan + 1tb external firewire drive i guess hehe
yes macs can install multiple OS including any windows n linux. there are two ways: by Boot Camp or virtualization. u can read about it here:
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/979861 . im currently running windows 7 in vmware fusion n never encountered any problems so far. but obviously when running another OS under virtualization, performance will degrade since u're running multiple OS at the same time. 4GB RAM shud be enough for most tasks
the extra care (applecare protection plan) is two years extra, not three. the imac comes with a 1yr warranty, so + ACPP u get total 3 yrs warranty. i highly recommend it, unless u can easily afford a new mac in one year. ACPP support is very good, even the phone support u get connected to someone who actually knows about mac instead of some random tech support person reading through a checklist.
if u're not sure whether u wanna try OSX or not, try go the hackintosh route (read more here:
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...9&hl=hackintosh ). it's a way to install OSX on a normal PC so you can try out OSX 1st. it's not that easy n u might run into a few problems later, but it serves as a good test drive
