hi, 'san guang' in english is astigmatism.

yes, the contact lens for astigmatism correction is called Toric lens.

only semi rigid or hard contact lens cant stop the short sight to slow down, not soft contact lens. thanks

These are my Avatar contact lenses from 9mm SFX. They are 18mm scleral lenses, custom painted and custom made to my prescription (-10.0 and -8.0 correction). I adore them.

Comfort: The lenses are very large and very thick. You can definitely feel them in your eyes, especially right away. However, after a few minutes, they become less noticeable. After a full day of wearing them (16 hours), your eyes get tired and dry. Overall, I would rate them at an 8, if 10 = ordinary contact lenses.

Vision: My vision was a little restricted; you're looking out of a smaller space than normal. I found it less obvious in bright light and worse at night. I was able to function and navigate just fine. I might not want to drive wearing them, but I didn't try.

Customer Service: The folks at 9mm SFX were extremely helpful. I emailed them to ask about my prescription, which is higher than they usually sell. They had the lenses made up without any problems. Here's a timeline of the ordering process:
I ordered on March 1st. My eye doctor refused to confirm the prescription online, so I arranged with him and with 9mm SFX to have the clear scleral lenses shipped directly to the doctor. They arrived from the manufacturer (Coastal Contacts) one week later, on March 8. I went in to the doctor's office and had them fitted. The doctor asked me to wear them for a week and come back, just as he would for ordinary lenses. By the end of the fitting process, it was March 16th and I shipped the lenses back to 9mm SFX. By March 22, the online status said "payment received" and I assumed that meant they had received the lenses and thus charged my credit card. The final painted contacts arrived at my house on April 2nd.
So the total process took one month. That included manufacturing the lenses specifically to my prescription and the fitting process with my eye doctor. Your turnaround time may be faster.

Costume Effect: I love them. They really look alien and they add the perfect finishing touch to the Na'vi costume. They're less noticeable from a distance, but any close-up photo shows them off wonderfully. And even at a reasonable distance, you can tell my eyes are yellow. So yes, I would absolutely wear them again, for this costume and for any other yellow-eyed character (Desire from Sandman, for example).

any idea how much is bioclear toric monthly disposable? is it good? my optometrist is selling at RM320 for 6 pieces, kinda steep to me... i saw a blog which sells directly from manufacturer selling only at RM130 + free one piece. The price difference is quite huge!
also does contact lens power differ from spectacles'? if i place order with 3rd party giving them my curent spectacle power, would it be alright? one optometrist said it would be different as they would need to do conversion to determine the right power for contact lens, another told me it's the same....

p/s: just noticed that the blog i was referring to belongs to TS, haha

hi, my price is listed in the blog page, just click the signature below.

bioclear toric is more comfortable than B&L softlens toric but lens tend to rotate more than softlens toric. its consider good if compared to other toric lenses.

if power < or = +/-4.00, then contact lens power remain the same as spectacle power. if higher, conversion needed. thanks

Guys,ned advice.

Few hours ago I went to tuition wearing contact lens. After a while,I began rubbing my eyes and one of the lenses went at the back of my eyes!!

After digging it out of my eyes,I had to contain the lens inside my bottle cap using tap water because I forgotten to bring the solution.

Right now,I'm worried whether the lens still can be used after soaking it in tap water for a few hours.I washed it already.sad.gif

Hi, if its not expensive lens, pls use a new 1, otherwise ur medical fee will cost much more than a piece of contact lens. Better safe than sorry. Thanks

erm, which toric lens is more comfortable to wear? Acuvue Oasys, Air Optix or Biomedics? Or any other brand u recommend.. Hope to get a cheap price as I m still a student >.< I used to use AirOptix (forget its Air Optix or O2 Optix) normal monthly lens, but still feel a lil dryness after wearing, so I stopped for few months. Now my optician said that I have astigmatism, n have to wear toric lens. I m jz scare of having dryness after or during wearing the lens, wish to get some comfortable one. Btw, if I order now, can I get it by Friday?

N i heard that we can only wear contact lens for a certain period of time, eg: 8-10years, after tht period our eyes are not suitable for contact lens anymore, is it true?

Another thg is, i saw some post in the internet saying that our eyes will grow a new blood vessel for transporting oxygen purpose due to the lack of oxygen for wearing lens too long, true?

hi, acuvue oasys toric is the most comfortable to wear now. there is a promotion for it, buy 3 boxes free 1 box, till promotion ends.

yes, if u order by today and bank in deposit, then u will get on friday. thanks

there is no such thing as wearing lens for 8-10 years, then ur eyes cant use contact lens anymore, its not true.

yes, lacking of oxygen to ur cornea by wearing bad lenses, u will get vessels growing into cornea. Oasys provides lot of oxygen, so dont worry about it.

Hi, yes oasys is more expensive becoz they are made of latest generation of silicone hydrogel, thus many researchers believe it gives more oxygen as compared to air optix or biomedic biofinity.

Air optix and biomedic biofinity lens are thicker, so less comfortable but very budget. So the choice is urs, thanks.

To my knowledge, O2 are two-week lenses that need to be replaced every two weeks. Air Optix Aqua are monthly replacement lenses, so each pair lasts longer. That being said, the price of the lenses is about twice as much as the O2 Optix exactly for that reason.

There is also Air Optix Night & Day - the most breathable soft contact lens on the market. If you sleep in your lenses, this is the best one for you. It's a monthly replacement lens.
*
In malaysia, O2 optix are marketed as monthly lens, i m not sure in europe. If u have any doubt, u can always call ciba vision for clarification. Local optical shops promoting O2 as monthly lenses too.

Night & day has the high o2 supply thru the lens but its quite a rigid & firm lens, thus many would prefer a softer yet high o2 supply lens like acuvue oasys. I earn less from selling oasys but i will still recommend it becoz i find it a much comfortable lens. Thanks

Latest silicone hydrogel lens from B&L is purevision 2, softer and more comfortable than the original purevision. But its more expensive.

No worries Frank Lampard, there is no 1 lens that works best for all ppl. Its very much depend on ur eye power, purpose of wearing lens, hours of usage, and any dry eye problem, etc.

No 1 can recommend a suitable lens without asking common questions like above. If those ppl in optical shop keep telling u a brand is much better than the others without taking a history, then most likely they getting high commission or its a high profit margin item. Or may be thats the only stock they have in store at that time and they just want to close the sale. So beware and good luck.

Acuvue is a popular brand, it has many types but not all acuvue lens are great. Oasys is by far the best in their range, acuvue clear is the worst and not suitable for 1 month wear. Thanks
