Hello,
I m using Freshkon 58, I have been using it for only a year. I m still studying, so most of the time I will wear my lens for more than 8hours. When I felt my eyes were dry, I will drop some moisturizer. But now, when I wear my lens, I can see the blood vessel in my eyes clearly. Is it normal?

And sometimes, I can even feel the lens are hurting my eyes. Is it recommend for me to continue wearing lens?

hi, its best not to wear normal contact lens for more than 8 hours.

if ur eyes feel dry then u can use artificial tears eyedrop, but dont use eyemo if possible.

overwear or chronic contact lens user eyes usually have prominent blood vessels, its very common. its always good to let ur eyes rest once in a while by having a few days off contact lens. with short break, yes u can continue to use lenses for a long time, take good care of the lens too.

hi i got several questions here.
Around 2 month ago I went to Focus Point to buy contact lens. Before I choose the lens the staff asked me for my spectacles to check the degree and she said the power is R-5.75 L-5.50 with CYL around 0.5 or 0.7 smth which I couldnt remember. She then suggested me to take normal lens R550 and L525. When I tried out the lens the vision kinda blur, and the staff said it because of my Astigmatism which causing the blured visioned especially for place expose to light, so at 1st I thought it was normal.
And my mistake here is I didnt ask the staff to recheck my eyes incase of any degree increment since the last time I went for a check is around 1 year go.

After several time wearing the lens, I felt the blur is too obvious till I think its not only caused by Astigmatism. I also notice that my vision when wear the spect seems like not as clear as it should be which i think due to any power increment. At the same time, I plan to buy a pair of cosmetic lens, so today I went to an optical shop (not the same previous shop) to check my eye power. The staff check my spectacle power and the weird thing is the power seems "change" which is different from the previous shop that I went . This is the reading, R-5.5 cyl -0.5 L -5.25 cyl -0.75

Then she check my eye using a machine in less than 30 seconds, and the result is more confusing for me which is:
R-5.5 cyl -0.5 L-5.00 cyl -1.25.
she said my right eye still maintain the same power but my left power is EITHER increase or decrease @_@ and the Astigmatism from the reading has increase.

So my questions are:
1. what might cause the different reading for both shop for my spectacles power degree?
2. Is there any possible case where the optician cant determine whether my eye power has increase or decrease like the second shop?
3. My current spect seems blur currently so it most possible that my power has increased instead of decreased isnt it?
4. Can I still wear normal lens since my left Astigmatism increased to 1.25?

I even planned to ordered new cosmetic lens with R-575 L-550 based on my own judgement that my power has increased due to blury vision with spect, but that eye check up confuse me now. I hope you can give me some sort of advice. And sorry for such a long post as Im trying to give as many info as possible, and Im bad in make a simple story short +_+.

Thanks in advance.

hi,

1. only minor difference of power between the 2 shops, it can be caused by the person accommodation or the lensmeter is not well calibrated.
2. they should have checked ur eyes the manual way after checking ur glasses and using the 'machine' in order to prescribe u the correct power contact lens.
3. blur with 1 year old glasses most likely due to power change, looking at the above info, it seems ur short sightedness remain but astigmatism increased for left eye.
4. u will need toric lens for astig above -1.00

thanks

thanks for the answer~ Anyway, wad may caused the Astigmatism to increased drastically for 1 eye only?
And if I only wear cl once in awhile for outing or special occasion, is it ok to stick for normal lens 1st? Planning to get toric lens next time.

u r welcome.

rubbing eye is the most common cause for increasing astig in young ppl.

yes u can use normal lens if u do not require very clear vision, just beware when u plan to drive esp at night time.

thanks

yes, u can do that but make sure u wear the lens for at least 30 min before u get the eye check and that power spec can only be used when u r using the same power contact lens. thanks

yes its ok to wear for 7 day and night but i wont recommend it, you will not see immediate effect when overwear but there will be hypoxia, oedema and may be neovascularization happening that u didnt aware of until u get ur eyes checked with slit lamp. take care.

Hey jialat, I'm finding that I don't wear my contact lenses enough to make it worth my money paying for Purevision.

So I'm thinking of switching to daily disposable lenses. Do you recommend that I go for a fitting with my optometrist, or is it probably okay to buy the lenses with my prescription?

hi, if u rarely use contact lens, then yes, please get daily lens instead, much more hygienic than soaking a monthly lens for ages without wearing it.

many ppl use purevision for its high oxygen transmissibility purpose and allergy free. hopefully by end of this year, there will be some daily silicone hydrogel lens has all the benefits of purevision and yet very hygienic.

if your prescription is not more than 1 year old, its quite safe to use it as long as it still give u clear vision.

thanks

is it true that when buying contact lens, must buy 50 degree less ?? eg: eye degree 500, should buy 450 degree contact lens. bcoz my fren said the optometrist said something about focus point not the same compared to specs. can u confirm this for me...

for power above 4.00, then minor reduction of contact lens power is needed. the higher the power, the more will be deducted. there is a formula to calculate it. its best to ask optometrist to calculate for u, dont trust others in the shop as they might not have the knowledge. any power below 4.00, u dont need to adjust the power. thanks

-9.50 is very high power, and most likely ur eyes are dry too as they turn red easily. thus i strongly recommend RGP, rigid gas permeable lens for you as it cant help slow the progression of short sightedness and suitable for dry and allergy eyes too.

i can recommend u good optometrist for rgp fitting, just tell me which area u live in. thanks

thanks jialat!

this RGP lense, can i just tell the optician i want this kinda lense? i have never heard of any RGP brand lenses, so far i've seen omega and baush and lomb.

im in jalan ipoh area btw dawg. first timers like me, you mean the optician will try out different lenses for me depending on the curvature of my cornea?

sorry for those questions, totally new sad.gif
