My prescription's about -7.00 for both eyes and I have astig (can't remember what cylinder). The clinic I visit prescribes me RGPs (the last ones I got were Menicon-Z) citing better ocular health. What do you think?

What do you mean by fragile? As in, they break more easily, bend out of shape more easily, scratch more easily, or?

QUOTE(jialat @ Mar 23 2009, 03:08 AM) they break more easily than the other RGPs. bend of out shape (flexure) is still not prominent as they r quite flexible and usually return to original shape pretty well. scratch resistance wise they r as good or better than the other RGPs. Thanks for the responses so far. Another one, when would you recommend a patient RGPs over soft lenses?

Thanks. I don't think I have any of those other conditions, but I do have corneal astig (tested with a corneal topo).

jialat, my new optometrist prescribed me Purevision toric. If you recall, I have about -7.00 and astig, and used to be wearing Menicon-Z.
I have been wearing Purevision for a week and it's really fanstastic in terms of comfort (no pain!) and quality (less shimmering, less time to settle in). Wearing and removal is more difficult because of the soft nature of the lens and its size.
With a lens like this I don't I think RGPs stand a chance on the market. But I'd like to ask you what's your opinion of Purevision vs Menicon-Z? When would you recommend one over the other?

Hey jialat, I'm finding that I don't wear my contact lenses enough to make it worth my money paying for Purevision.
So I'm thinking of switching to daily disposable lenses. Do you recommend that I go for a fitting with my optometrist, or is it probably okay to buy the lenses with my prescription?

Hi jialat, my optometrist is putting me on a new lens and cleaning solution to see if it helps my lens feel fresher. I will be switching from B&L PureVision Monthly + ReNu Multiplus, to Acuvue Oasys Bi-weekly + Opti-free Replenish.
In your opinion, do you think this will make a difference?

Ah ok, I guess I can buy from them then. I was shocked because it's so much more expensive than my uni's optometry school (in 2005 i got a pair for AUD200 ~ MYR600) Those were good days. Oh and it was Eyez bangsar village that I went to today

Hey jialat, my optometrist gave me a Acuvue Moist toric daily sample to try. It's so comfortable What's your opinion on it?

Actually after a few hours they don't feel so good anymore.
I was getting my spectacle lenses refitted so they gave these to me to wear.
