if air optix and bioclear both are not good enough, then i recommend u to try 'day & night' extended wear lens. u will feel very comfortable with it. if u want cheaper lens than 'day & night' then try acuvue oasys. now got buy 3 free 1 promotion, very worthwhile.

softlens 38 is monthly lens, it wont suit u well if air optix failed on u.

thanks

Hi Jialat biggrin.gif I would like to ask something.

Today is my second time wearing contact lenses(my first wear was a few months back). I'm planning to use it almost everyday. Is there anything I need to know?

Right now, my right eye is totally used to it, just that I can feel very minor itch sometimes.. But the problem is my left eye. I could feel the contact lens itching my eye, is there something wrong? Anything that I should consider? What would it feel like if I wear my contact lens wrongly?(Flipped over)
And kinda blur compared to specs. Is it suppose to be like this?

Hm.. and Which contact lens would you recommend me if I am going to stay awake for at least 8 hours? Is there any contact lens that could last longer than 8 hours? And also I would most likely be using computers.

Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

if u plan to use it everyday, lens hygiene will be the most important issue. its always good to use protein removal once a week to ensure the lens stays permeable to oxygen and no protein or lipid buildup which can lead to complication.

flipped lens will caused uncomfortable feeling on eyes. check the shape of lens on the pulp of ur finger, do the taco test which u should have been informed when u 1st learn checking lens shape and condition.

give me ur spec and contact lens power, then i will know whether u r using the right power lens or not.

lens tat can be worn for more than 8 hours a day will be air optix, purevision, day & night, oasys. thanks

Protein removal? Is it the.. Liquid in the contact lens cover?

Crap I kinda forgotten.. Uncomfortable like how? Very pain or just itchy? Nvm I'll ask my friends about the taco test laugh.gif

Other than that can't be worn for over 8 hours? What about Dailies lens?

Ok here's my question:

1) i recently got freshlook coloured contacts just for fun as in for cosmetical purpose. Those are powerless ones and its monthly based. However, i kinda feel blur all thru out when im wearing the lenses..any idea y?
Btw i have astig sad.gif

2) My astig power is like 475-515 for my left eye and 375 for my right eye (have to double check again). However, i hardly wear my specs since i hate wearing them. But is there any way i can get lenses for my eye condition without the lenses exceeding hundreds as in <rm200 for maybe 2 months-3 months? flex.gif hmm.gif

3) is it harmful to wear coloured powerless lens? unsure.gif

4)And how to differentiate the correct concave side of the lens? unsure.gif unsure.gif

thnx in advance notworthy.gif

protein removal come in tablet and liquid form, its not the solution in the contact lens plastic foil.

daily lens is not recommended to wear for > 8 hours, unless u get silicone hydrogel daily lens which cost a bomb. acuvue moist is ok to wear for 10 hours max. thanks

hi, u answered the 1st question urself. residual astigmatism will definitely caused blurred vision.

i dont think the power u referring to is astigmatism. pls double check, most likely the power u written is shortsightedness.

with the power above, yes i can help u get spectacle lens for <rm 200.

no side effect as long as u dont overwear ur color lens.

to know the side of lens better, pls google for taco test and study it. thanks

If I am using daily lens, would I still need to use the protein removal?

I am planning to use daily lens for hygiene purposes. Do I just open, and use?

How much would those silicone hydrogel daily lens cost?

Yesterday was my first time wearing contact lens and driving, afternoon and night. During the afternoon was ok, but at night it was abit blurry. Is it normal?

hi, u dont need to use protein removal for daily lens because u throw the lens away at the end of everyday usage.

yes, just open the plastic foil and use it, of course make sure ur hands and fingers are clean.

its quite expensive, let me ask my supplier 1st then i will pm the price.

clear at daytime but blur at night driving means there is astigmatism uncorrected.

pls pm me ur exact spectacle power so that i can recommend u the lens. thanks

Hm.. I've searched through some youtube videos. There's a part before they apply the contact lens, they put solution on the palm with the lens. Daily lens doesn't require that right? That is the first time I saw people doing that.

Oh alright. If I am not wrong, drying my hands with tissue paper won't be a problem right. Correct me if I am wrong.

Ok please do let me know when you got the price laugh.gif And sorry for the trouble

Hm.. I'm not sure about my specs power. Maybe I will have a check when I got free time smile.gif

For wearing contact lens, so far so good. Just that my left eye will feel irritating itches, but my right eye is fine. After around 8 hours or wearing daily lenses(yes, I know am not suppose to be doing this), I have difficulties removing the lens. I think that my eye is a little too dry. What must I do?

hi, daily lens does not required additional wetting drop, but no harm doing that if u wish.

as long as the tissue paper is clean, then no problem.

sorry, my supplier informed me that silicone hydrogel daily lens not available in malaysia, so far only monthly lens.

yes, u should get ur eyes power check at least once a year.

blink at least few times to wet the lens with ur own tears and then pull the lens to the white side of ur eye then only pinch it out with fingers.

if blinks still cant work, then try putting rewetting drops 1st before removing the lens. same pulling motion for the lens to sclera is strongly recommended before pinching the lens out from eyes. avoid focus brand lens cause it is popular for its slipperiness.

thanks

Normally you shouldnt be able to feel your lens in your eyes. If it is flipper over, you will feel very uncomfortable, as though the edge of the lens are 'scratching' your eyes.. i mean it feels a bit sharp although it wont bother you too much

Basically you need to be hygienic.. make sure you clean your lens and if you have to use it for more than 8 hours, remember to use eye drops every few hours

jialat, my new optometrist prescribed me Purevision toric. If you recall, I have about -7.00 and astig, and used to be wearing Menicon-Z.

I have been wearing Purevision for a week and it's really fanstastic in terms of comfort (no pain!) and quality (less shimmering, less time to settle in). Wearing and removal is more difficult because of the soft nature of the lens and its size.

With a lens like this I don't I think RGPs stand a chance on the market. But I'd like to ask you what's your opinion of Purevision vs Menicon-Z? When would you recommend one over the other?

RGP is strongly recommended for those refractive power that keep increasing, esp children. its proven that rgp user power change is only as much as 0.25 diopter averagely while those children using glasses have an average increment of 1.00 D, 4 times higher than rgp user.

those that have very dry eye, RGP is their only option.

RGP is the best option for those with high corneal astigmatism, it can masks most of the astigmatism, thus not requiring a toric lens.

purevision is recommended for those very sensitive eye that cant stand RGP lens, but of course it is suitable for all types of eye. thanks

hey TS, i have been using Baucsh and Lomb monthly 38 and 59 softlens for 4 years and i normally wear it for like 15 hours. In some extreme cases i even wore them for over 24 hours. Will this practice expose me to serious eye complication?

yes, ur cornea might develop blood vessel which is supposed to be absent in cornea. overwear lens will lead to hypoxia / lack of oxygen which force blood vessel to enter cornea to supply enough oxygen and remove CO2 from there. if u want to wear lens for 15 hours or longer then pls use extended wear lens, like day & night, air optix, acuvue oasys or purevision. thanks

hi, u can try google for more info on orthokeratology. its a non surgical way to remove eye power but u need to wear semi hard lens / RGP lens overnight to reshape ur cornea. thanks

Hello,

I've worn contact lens since around two years ago, and have stopped and gone back to spectacles.

However, now I'm interested in monthly colored lens. smile.gif Interested in Acuvue Define as well. And will be using it for at least 8 hours due to work.

Which brand would you recommend ya?

I have mild astig though. >_<
