Bro, you have to turn the physical lens. You don't have to play with the settings to get sharp image. The problem is that your image is not well focused. The only way to fix it is to turn around the lens and find the perfect focal length. It ranges from a few centimeters to infinity. So, the webcam actually covers quite a long range but not limited to close-up.
*
Thanks Mr.LKM for your reply. Ya I know how to change the focus by turning the physical lens. I'm dissapointed because the image quality is just so-so compared to my cap ayam 1.3MP webcam. Moreover, the focus is ONLY equally good as my cap ayam webcam when I use the Philips SPC900NC webcam with the Vlounge software. Other webcam softwares like Cyberlink Power Director, webcammax, K3CCD and VH Multicam Studio, the quality of the image captured by Philips SPC900NC is blurred and bad and this rules out the possibilty of using the Philips SPC900NC webcam for a picture in picture video shooting with other webcams. There is no such problem with the laptop's built-in Acer Crystal Eye webcam and also my Cap Ayam 1.3MP webcam which I bought for RM50+ in 2006. I think the problem lies with the Vista Driver.

For a webcam that is touted to be the World's Best when I bought it at lelong.com for a clearance price of RM153, it is dissapointing.

Acer phase out models very fast ma .. around 2-3months they considered the model phase out. But to dealers they still have stock and there is grace period of a few months for dealer to sell it off. So its normal if Acer does not preview it on the ads.

But it always seems like the later you buy a new laptop, the better the specs will be. If anyone couldn't get this, just wait for an even better deal. My 2cents tongue.gif

But hey, Mr.LKM is selling ler....check it out http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f...0#entry24653507

Will this processor T4200 cause the bottleneck with ATI Radeon HD3470?
*
Edit: my mistaken.

According to the Window Experience Index, the CPU scores 5.0 [mistaken it at 4.0] while ATI Radeon HD3470 scored 4.0 [mistaken at 3.0]. There's also a big lag difference between 1028x768 with 800x600 resolution while playing Last Remnant. I would say the bottleneck is at ATI HD 3470. This is my observation but I'm too lazy to install benchmarking tools.

You sure the score is only 3.0? Is Last Remnant fully playable at this reso with ati 3470? BTW For those who ask whether Processor is the bottleneck to the gpu, i think they might have over-estimated the strength of ati 3470.

800x600 windowed for Last Remnant playing is no problem at all. I am playing LR on my desktop on 16*0 x 14*0 resolution windowed at max settings without lag so I can subjectively judge the lag difference. Anyways, nothing beats the results of objective benchmarking.

I went to get a USB hub today at Low Yat and asked the price for 4730ZG. You can still find RM2199 with some freebies but there's significantly lesser 4730GZ display units on the laptops booths as compared to a week before PC Fair. I think Acer is phrasing this model out.

Added on May 10, 2009, 6:54 pmJust want to say I mistaken the Window Experience number. CPU is 5.0, GPU is 4.0.

I installed Devil May Cry 4 in this laptop, and the performance awed me (at least me). By playing the performance testing mode for Direct-X 9.0, the lappy would get 16-25fps while Direct-X 10 around 12-20fps. I'm all smiles! smile.gif

If you broke it by yourself I don't think it will be covered by warranty.

Well, how was 'broke it by yourself' defined? What happened to your friend LCD?
