Same for you guys or I'll be heading to the service center soon?

What is backlight bleeding? At some viewing angle on a blank screensaver, mine looks like this too.

I bought it from Evernew at PJ IT Mall...They cant give much discount like RM100 off if i dowan the free gift...so i just take it together with some discount. sweat.gif
They say not much profit/commission they earn from selling this model compare with the other acer model lah.
Ic. Did you bargain before he gave you the discount? You are lucky! Anybody else got this laptop from Penang PC Fair? How's the deal?

UPDATE: After changing the power line frequency to 50hz, wavy lines or flickering is NO MORE! smile.gif

Another new 4730ZG owner reporting in... just got it in PC Fair today. Btw, I am from Penang smile.gif

The very first thing I did was to remove all the junks (Acer Game Consoles) and those trial wares... I use Avast! instead of McAfee... So far so good... I like it very much!!!!

That's why I'm asking fellow owners if they encounter the same thing. If everyone is having the same thing, then I'll guess it's normal, if not, then I'll have to send it back.

Backlight bleeding is when you put a black wallpaper and the monitor displays grayish-white colours from the monitor sides. Example of bleeding from LCD:

Backlight bleeding is normal for LCD because of its technology. This LCD is a TN panel, so the 'bleeding' is just whitish. If you get those expensive LCD with more colour gamut, you might see orange or reddish bleeding!

hey guys, my friend bought this 4730zg, and I was helping him to install windows xp, but I tried 5 different XP installation discs, and all had the same problem: when it goes to "setup is starting windows", BSOD comes out and screws me. anyone encountered this problem before?

anyway, I think it's a good deal, for 2199 you get lots of stuff, namely 3470, but sadly not core 2 duo. And except for the fact that it's acer, it's rather good.

1. Vista sucks, eats too much ram (o.0 I'm a vista user)

'cos my friend uses old software, and he was scared that Vista might not be able to run '02-'03 software, and he's too used to xp, that's why. I'm trying to make a dual boot for him, but I'm stuck at the first part: BSOD on xp installation start. I don't know why, I've slipstreamed SATA drivers into the windows setup, so it couldn't be hard disk problems.

The problem is this lappy got a hidden partition around 10GB (not sure) that stores Vista image (purposely slipstreamed for this lappy). Either you make a backup copy of it first, then only redo/format the HDD for XP installation.

uh huh you mean the EISA partition that acts as a recovery partition right? I'm not formatting my hard disk as I don't want to lose my genuine copy, I remember installing XP onto my 5920g without any problems while not losing my vista partition. I don't know why.. BSOD gave a INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE error. Is it that XP setup is unable to read the EISA partition? (weird because if it can't i shouldn't have xp on my own 5920g)

edit: uh i changed sata mode to ide and it works

XP installer files unable to read Sata mode drive and can ony detect IDE mode instead. Same goes to all notebooks, if one wants to install XP to their notebooks that are newer generations. Try enter the bios and set the Sata mode to IDE or native IDE. Else is BSOD ocasionally even you got the XP installed sucessfully on Sata mode.
