Does changing Sata to IDE affects the read/write speed?
*
Nope does not effect much of it and it is not noticable. As it is actually an ide emulation of the sata controler. In layman's term is that ur bios 'tricks' ur installer to blive it is ide lol.

layman's term = more easier or simple means. Hmm if ure doing fine with your current setting then why bother to change it ? Just change it when u cant install xp or get BSOD while starting up/installing. Just leave it if nothing wrong as ur bios does not need to 'trick' ur os lol ..

I'll admit I didn't go reading up to these details before getting this laptop so I'll consider it as a bonus.  smile.gif

One thing I did realize is the DDR2 RAM is 335Mhz @ 5.5.5.12 latency. Compared to my desktop RAM, it's feels slow.

Not advisable because lappy's component are tightly integrated into 1 tiny space and the thermal dissipation solution are built to dissipate certain amount of heat only. When you overclock it, you are really shortening the lifespan freaking fast. But again, why spend the money on lappy if you know you are going to overclock? Not senseful right?? rolleyes.gif

A cooling pad merely sucks out the hot air inside the laptop. It does not in any way reduce the heat emitted from the component itself. Think like this, a cooling pad only sucks away the smoke from a frying pan, it doesn't reduce the heat of the pan itself smile.gif

Haha. Come to think of it, I used the same method 10 years ago, when my AMD desktop keeps having BSOD: I left the desktop side casing opened and blast a table fan on it. Miraculously, no more BSOD icon_rolleyes.gif rclxms.gif

Acer nowadays does not provide the recovery cd anymore. Need to make urself from the Acer module. Applicable to those that comes with OS license. There should be a Resource CD for drivers and applications.

Uhh new owner of this laptop here =)
err actually 2 weeks already
Got a bit of a problem here
Is this GPU seriously screwed or something?
Because I tested COD4 with all low graphics
And it lags ==
Quite badly
Along with Crysis

And by the way, got lots of freebies for RM 2199 from PC Fair Ipoh
Earphones
Notebook lock
Light
Cooler
Keyboard protector
Notebook skin
Mouse
Ethernet cable
10 empty CDs
USB vacuum cleaner XD

But most of those stuff don't work XD
*
no matter wad ppl say about ati with dedicated rams on notebooks, plz lar you're paying 2199 for a dual core, not a core 2 duo. the difference between this ZG and the vanilla 4730z is the graphics, the ram size, the license, and the 3 years warranty. don expect dual core to run cod4 and crysis smoothly. but u should expect smooth playing on hd movies.

and oh btw, i lol at your freebies. CDs? Ethernet Cable? Vacuum? lol~! all total up to around rm50 or less...

QUOTE(ashburn98 @ Apr 19 2009, 06:09 PM)
Additional info are always helpful but in my case, I need to know how many of 4730zg has/has not this problem. If everyone has that white patch of glow with black wallpaper then I have no course to complain. If I'm the only one out, then I have to take a day off to go to Acer service centre.

this is considered normal for notebook lcds. unless you're using the new LED screen. notebook screens are all cheap tn panels, not those premium panels used on good lcds. >.<
