well, if you are going to use for long hour, might as well get a hsdpa usb modem. price ranger : rm200-rm300 in the garage sales.

I am assuming you will surf the net using pc/lappy/netbook instead of hp.

At that price, having a usb modem puts you on added advantages.

1. price - cheaper, whereas, a 3g hp would cost you higher than rm350. I would get a hsdpa phone ( for long term performance-price ration) rather than a 3g phone, but of course a hsdpa phone cost a lot more than a 3g phone.

2. Heat issue. Long hours would make ur hp really hot and drain your battery. You need to constantly plug in while surfing and at least, have a fan to cool down your hp at the same time. Constant charging = more electricity bills plus reducing ur hp life battery cycle.

Anyway, if you ll be surfing the net using hp primarily, it is another story then.

yup.. ok la tu..

3g = 384kbps = 0.38mbps=0.38Mb/s

thus your 0.37Mb/s is quite good.

Even your upload is good at 100kbps smile.gif

yup, you can get any huawei hsdpa modem at that price.

It is considered good. smile.gif

You can check at garage sales under networking. At least, you can see different types of modem.
The price range of rm200-rm350 depends on the modem conditions like New, Used, Display Unit, bulk orders n such.

Mostly, people use huawei modem. You can choose either e220, or the k series (which comes with a micro SD slot too.)

At lowyat, they usually cost around rm300 and onwards.

Try this.

If you are using handphone to connect, disable high speed data packaging (3.5G). You will connect at slower speed 3G instead of 3.5G , but you can connect to MSN.

It worked for me. Tell me if it works for you.

I just bought this celcom prepaid broadband last Tuesday. Last time i was digi edge daily rm6 user. I subscribe the rm20 weekly. So far my speed is up to 384kbps, sometimes can reach 390kbps. Downld speed average 46kb/s. Highest can get 50kb/s. At the moment Ive downlded about 2gb. My area is at Jalan Santubong outskirt Kuching town. My house is just 500m from the network transmission pole. So far so good.  biggrin.gif

hi toilet bowl and all...i believe my connection is capped. Funny thing is when i try to login setting at 3g, the server just failed to respond and time out. I have to reset to reduce to GPRS speed. And at GPRS surfing, the speed is worst then 56k dial up. What's happening? Anyone have this experience?
