I went to howiechoo's, and he installed a piece of bitumen strip right above it so the water does not trail down onto the speaker. Works well so far This post has been edited by hanieyf: Dec 20 2011, 08:03 PM |

QUOTE(Aquariusdenz @ Dec 21 2011, 12:08 AM) Nice.. its just like installing kenari engine right? Puspakom approve kah? Planning to swap a kenari or move engine in my oil leaking kancil.. Can put kenari or kelisa engine in kancil. But if ur ori engine is 850cc, can put 1000cc engine inside.. Puspakom approve.. At the workshop where i sent my kancil, there is 1 kancil already put 1.0 dvvt viva engine inside..L5 & L6 also got 3piston engine code ef-rl.. This engine is much more popular here coz the turbo can kacuk with kelisa or kenari 1.0cc block.. Can make 1000t.. This thread already reach 2.5k post.. Need to open a new thread... |

I heard my uncle said my Kancil 660 cant directly swap to kenari engine because it will jump from 660cc to 1000cc. Its a big gap. He ask me to jump to 850 first, few years later jump to 1000. Because jump directly got charge or what. Btw, usually how much does the installation charge of swapping engine?L5 & L6 also got 3piston engine code ef-rl.. I travel around 20km daily and usually travel around 80km/h.. which one can last long and less maintanence? |

IINM the only difference of the 660 and 850 engine is the stroke length - I'm not too good in engine technicalities but you might not have to swap the whole engine just for the 850.I was considering an L2 as well, but driving on NS Highway today changed my mind. Was cruising at 110km/h when a container truck zoomed right beside me, veering my car. No matter how powerful the engine can be, the car is simply just too light. I'd rather pump that money for the L2 for a better car |

kancils are light. yes. is it so light that a strong gush of wind will blow your car off the ground kinda light? no.
i dont mean to sound harsh, until this day, i still do not understand why is being a light car an issue? is a heavier car better? heavier car needs more torque which in turn needs more power and more fuel and more money and the list goes on. is being light equates to being prone to spinning out and turtle-ing? no. i have seen my fair share of kancils and wiras and a heck of alot of cars doing amazing acrobats. huge trucks passing by? in my vios is does the same. its a mammoth. its heavy. i dont think its a prob. and that is a plus point that any street car would love and die for. put this into perspective. having a kancil L2 turbo or L5 turbo for that matter, is a nice car to play on the weekends. and Aquariusdenz, i'd say forget the 850 carby. its a waste. unless your talking about inserting the block in to up the CC. and L2 engines (as i have checked last) are still available, at a reasonable price. but i have seen many getting overhauls and etc does to bad condition engines. invest in a L5 3 cyl or 4 cyl up to u. speaking from experience, the L5 jbjl 4 cyl has given me no prob for a daily car. even now as a weekend piece. if there's the fear of veering out of control, after converting the engine or even before or whatever the fear may be, i seriously think its OVER THINKING. and my advise is to ACTUALLY try driving a converted kancil and getting a feel of it. a converted kancil, with proper braking, with proper tires, is fine. its fun. its so fun, its rebecca black friday fun fun fun. QUOTE(fluffy6640 @ Dec 23 2011, 12:03 PM) kancils are light. yes. is it so light that a strong gush of wind will blow your car off the ground kinda light? no. In response to light cars, I love pocket rockets. I would take a Kancil any time if the weight and safety factor wasn't thrown into the mix. It's so much cheaper to run, the size makes parking snappy but you might want to reason with other points as well?i dont mean to sound harsh, until this day, i still do not understand why is being a light car an issue? is a heavier car better? heavier car needs more torque which in turn needs more power and more fuel and more money and the list goes on. is being light equates to being prone to spinning out and turtle-ing? no. i have seen my fair share of kancils and wiras and a heck of alot of cars doing amazing acrobats. huge trucks passing by? in my vios is does the same. its a mammoth. its heavy. i dont think its a prob. and that is a plus point that any street car would love and die for. put this into perspective. having a kancil L2 turbo or L5 turbo for that matter, is a nice car to play on the weekends. Heavier cars eat more fuel and drag more weight, but the weight certainly helps when it comes down to safety. The threshold of stability is much lower on low cars at high speed, hence the taking-off feeling. 'High speed' is subjective anyway, but its only at 110km/h and the steering turns light - the error tolerance is so small that one mistake or any external forces (trucks, crosswinds) is enough to cause a major accident. Add rain and that tiny gap shrinks by another half. I've had my share of experience with a few cars, notably the Golf TSI, Peugeot 206CC, a 1967 VW Beetle, a Laser TX3 with a B8 plonked inside, an Alfa Romeo 168 to note a few, which greatly adds pages to my definition of stability in my book. Now let's say you souped up your ride, made it nice and heavy and all. Doors open and close with a solid thud, bonnet doesn't echo like a empty barrel. But that does not change the track and wheelbase, an inherent property which greatly influences the quality and stability of the car. To keep it simple, cars with shorter tracks would apply more pressure onto its contact points - the wheels. A good analogy would be driving a small and large nail with the same amount of force, which the smaller nail sinks in faster than the other due to its concentration to a much smaller area. As such, it is very easy to overload the brake systems of small cars. 2 pot calipers and bigger disc brakes only play so little in the entire playground of vehicle stability. Then again, what disc sizes can you fit inside those tiny wheels? But back to my point. It's all this and more which contributes to my decision to get a new, bigger sized car. But fluffy6640, no harm taken. I've put many years into this car that I only have, but time to move on when I can This post has been edited by colinwong89: Dec 23 2011, 02:45 PM |
