The newer version of IT is like having those kids in Stand By Me movie to play as the children in this new IT movie.

Yeapp, the dialogue for those kids in the new IT film contain cursing and swearing such as saying f words, s words, m words etc.

To follow the current horror movie trend, the movie got jump scare moments but later on its not really scare anymore when the movie proceed further to the end.

The special effects for the cgi ghost and Pennywise transformation and deformation really make the old IT movie looks kinda cheezy.

The story retain its old originality but the joke about New Kid on the Block kinda turn the movie off.

And there is also a homage to 90s movies and games such as Street Fighter, Elm Streets, Tim Burton Batman and etc.

I gave it 7.5 out of 10. Minus 2.5 mark because no need to put joke scene or dialogue in a horror movie.

PS :
1) I like to shout Fck you!!!to stupid couple that watched this movie last night at seat AA 9-10 at MBO Citta Mall. While everyone silently watching the movie, you guys mumbling about something else lovey dovey amd cannot stop talking. Esxpecially your stupid bitch/wife/gf who keep saying kesiannya dia, ee takutnya etc. Fuck you!!! Fuck You!!! Fuck You!!!!

2) To the couple who sit in front of me that keep asking" eh? habis dah? Ada dua part eahh???". Clearly you both are Gen Y and didnt know that there are two part of this movie. The children part and the second part where they already adult. The director already on a talk to make the second part if the movie is a success.

I can relate to your feeling too when we encountered such shitty people . That's why I only go to cinema for movies I really like to watch. If not, better stay home watch on tv.

Am I the only one thinking this movie is overhyped?

I've never read the book and I could barely remember the TV show back then except that the clown was creepy and he's a pedophile or something.

This new IT movie marketed itself as horror/thriller movie but I didn't really get the horror elements. They are too "in ur face". It lacks nuance and the build up to these horror scenes are minimum. It's like they can't wait to throw those cool horror visuals at you. It felt like an action movie where it just up the ante as it goes along.

Just watched this movie.

Tbh, I feel that this movie is way way better than the overrated Annabelle : Creation movie.

I know it's a stupid comparison, but the horror feeling in this movie is much much better.

And yeah, I still don't understand how IT is created.

I think I should go buy the book for further understanding.

I gave 8/10.

How's the censorship for the movie in our local cinemas?

I'm just sad they didn't include the kind of controversial orgy scene that was in the book into the movie. It adds a different layer of view to the kids.

Firstly, the movie is creepy as fck. I'm glad I never watch It when I was a little boy (or I watched it but forgot about it) and not being afraid with any clown I see. The slideshow scene got me jumped on my seat and I was shivering after that.

And now I just realized that the reality (in the movie) is actually a lot more scarier than the whole clown thing.

The kissing scene was cut. I don't think there's an orgy scene though except the part where the boys staring at Bev's body.

all the curse words are in tact except for one scene with the word a**hole which got muted lol.

all the gory scenes are also untouched. only one kissing scene got cut.

so yea, very minimal censorship but wildly inconsistent.

IT isnt a clown, IT is an alien.

I felt that this remake was really good. A 7.5/10 for me.

Started off strong and, although it got less scarier towards the end, it still maintained a somewhat dark feel to the whole movie.

I didnt quite get the cutting of the last kiss scene when they didnt censor all the "F" words or when Ben kissed Beverly...

Note: They cut out the orgy scene from the movie as the director said that it was not necessary (in a way)

Probably the only intriguing Hollywood horror movie this year. A coming to age soft horror movie. Many didn’t realize but it’s rare to have Hollywood make a horror clocked at 2h let alone OVER 2h. Last was 2y ago Crimson Peak(2015). More time to develop and flourish. Recommended to watch.

Glad the updated version panned out to be much better and to a degree the kids outdone certain aspects of the book. Really curious how much of Cary Fukunaga's treatment retain over this version. Pretty sure that could be a very different than this somehow semi arthouse and semi commercial end product.

PS: What's up with all the pedobear enthusiasts keep pointing out the gang bang scene not in the movie. I do question what relevance does that bring to the movie and furthermore it just wrong to expect it gonna end up in a major studio offering. Love it or hate it...Stephen King has a tendency to do over batshit crazy things in his stories.

A very different interpretation of the movie based on the previous scripts by Cary Fukunaga. Thought the casting of Ben Mendelsohn as "It" is perfect. Bill Skarsgard still did a bang up job and I think Mendelsohn will give it more nuanced and even more creepy. Definitely will be much more darker and not afraid to be disturbing.
