I can still remember, going to Penang's City Stadium as a kid with my uncle and brother, watching the likes of Aziz Azizan, Azman Adnan, John Hunter,Kok Hong and so on. Most of them took bribes though and eventually we lost interest in the Malaysian League. Watched Penang getting trashed by Kedah 8-0 at home was crazy. We were so baffled that we started laughing, we stayed on till the end though.

Last I could recall was that Ukranian fella i think. Melnikov or something along those lines by Pahang. Funny thing was Pahang got duped. Agent sent a tape when the fella was at his best. Wasn't half the player when they got him.

QUOTE
Manchester United keeper Edwin van der Sar has turned down a request from Dutch manager Bert van Marwijk to come out of international retirement.

Van der Sar, 38, did agree to a similar request in October 2008 and played in wins over Iceland and Norway.

But, with Van Marwijk again hit by a keeper injury crisis, Van der Sar has refused this time around.

"I knew beforehand what the answer would be, but I called him anyway," Van Marwijk told a Dutch newspaper.

Van der Sar quit the international set-up after Euro 2008 and is the most capped Dutch footballer of all time with 130 appearances.

Van Marwijk said he asked him to play in upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Scotland on 28 March and Macedonia on 1 April "against my better judgment".

He will name his squad on Friday and he is likely to have to pick a starter from keepers Maarten Stekelenburg, Henk Timmer and Michel Vorm.

Stekelenburg is the most likely candidate, even though he has only just returned from injury and has failed to force his way back into the Ajax team.

Wigan winger Valencia to sign for Manchester United in the summer
QUOTE

LONDON, March 19 — Antonio Valencia will sign for Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

Sportsmail understands that Wigan are resigned to losing their Ecuador winger to the champions for a fee in excess of £5 million (RM 25 million).

The same agent who engineered Wilson Palacios’s £12 million move from the JJB Stadium to Tottenham in January will act as intermediary in the Valencia deal.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been monitoring the progress of the 23-year-old wide player for some time, having expressed an interest in the former Villarreal star last summer, according to the player’s agent Diego Herrera.

Last summer, when United allegedly came knocking, Latics boss Steve Bruce admitted the lustre of the Red Devils would be too much to resist for any of his young players.

Bruce said: “Come on, we have to be sensible about this. If Man United come knocking at the door, how the hell can you refuse them?

“I’m aware you can’t deny somebody like a Manchester United or a Liverpool or a Tottenham.

“This club never wanted to sell (Pascal) Chimbonda, but players want to go and you can understand that, so we have to be realistic as well.” — The Daily Mail
