hardware wise, they are the same, difference in performance would be because of the driver and the locked feature, thus the premium price.

if you dislike dell, the others would be hp elitebook, thinkpad w series, but I don't think 4k is sufficient

S42 has NVIDIA ® GeForce ® 9600M GT so i assume it supports openGL too?

looks like softmodding is not available, the quadro function has been disabled physically.

browsing some quadro notebook, dell latitude e6400, precision m2400 would need 4.4k, precision m6400, hp elitebook would be around 9k

y450 with gt130m would be rm 3699

well, yeah they do. But best performance would be s42(9600m gt GDDR3), then goes to studio 15 (hd4570 GDRR3) , then u80v (hd4570 DDR2).
Acer 5935G would be rm 3999 to get gt130m DDR2, which lose to 9600m GTDDR3,
hp at 3k you would only get g105m, which is entry level, meant to replace intel gpu.
