But it seems that s42 does not eligible to windows 7 upgrade. At least it is not mention in its website.

Just following the trend, although i dun like microsoft that much. I'm planning to get win vista with free upgrade to win 7, and upgrading to win 7 only after some time.

Because i'm thinking of using win vista first, until everything settles into place, then only i upgrade to win 7.

I remember dell will send the upgrade by them, not by microsoft, so no need to pay shipping.
shipping would be around $19?

I've just checked on dell's website. We'll have to pay for the shipment charges too. But the exact price is not mention. Guess i'll have to think twice then.

But since major laptops manufacturing companies most probably will be releasing new laptops together with the release of win 7, so i guess i might be able to grab a laptop with a lower price. what's your opinion?

And btw, why is i7 such a hot topic?

there's might chance for lower price, but there's chance to discontinued the previous series.
So buy when you need the laptop smile.gif

well, i7 can be considered as the most powerful cpu, so now come to mobile platform.
but not really suitable for gaming. Video editing and other works get the most benefit from i7.

Icic. Yup, I totally agree with u. Now my heart longs for a new laptop, so i think i should get one. Buying laptop would be much easier if there were more companies providing websites like dell's.

Thx for telling me that. But i7 is still very expensive.

Where did you get that info? Most drivers have compatible Win 7 versions and IIRC almost all software I've tried installing on the RC has been done without a hitch.

Well, Win 7 have XPM (XP Mode)...when you have problem installing apps/programs with 7, can always opt for XPM nod.gif...should be no problem installing a new/old apps with 7 nod.gif...

btw, i think all players/chatting programs runs well with 7...
