Hi all,

I'm leaving for the US soon to further my studies and need to get my hands on a decent laptop. My requirements would more or less look like this:

1) Microsoft Office (word, excel etc) for assignments, presentations etc.
2) Able to support games with decent graphics (DotA, Cabal, CS, L4D)
3) Great output sound for music.
4) Durable (one that is almost certain to last me at least 5 years?)

I have Dell's XPS M1730 in mind but it's rather expensive at $1499 USD (http://www.dell.com/us/en/home/notebooks/xpsnb_m1730/pd.aspx?LYN=xpsnb_m1730&s=dhs&cs=19). Any other recommendations or is it value for money with that price?

And would 2GB2 Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM3 at 667MHz be sufficient if I'm a person who loves to multitask or should i get 4GB4 Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM3 at 667MHz?

Thanks all who reply notworthy.gif

EDIT: NO Acer brand xD not one of my previous Acer Desktops have made it past 3 years -.- and I wouldn't push my luck with an Acer Laptop either.

The games u mentioned not even near high end games. So if those were the only games u want to play, i guess mid-end GPU would be sufficient. And XPS 16 is sooooo old! sweat.gif Go for Asus Gaming series icon_rolleyes.gif brows.gif

In the first place, whats your budget?Getting fed up with tons of people flooding QnA asking for recommendations for laptops but didn't even state budget sweat.gif

Bear in mind, u would need a 64 bit OS to utilise 3GB RAM and above.
