Well, I got my replacement unit. So far so good. Screen is slightly better and the Home button works as it should when press on. However, yellow tinted is still there but not that bright and light leaks are minimal now. I guess iPhone 3G's worldwide QC is not that thorough.

Yes, there seem to be many kinds of screen on the iPhone 3G (in terms of color temperature) but mostly are on the warm side. Mine is slightly warm but contrast is still good, which is the most important thing. On a side note, the warm colors do make them look richer and full bodied. My old iPod Touch 1G is bluish and too cool. |

QUOTE(teikwing @ Jun 5 2009, 06:35 PM) Well, they claim that if I bought it on that day and found problems the same day of purchase then I might be eligible for 1-1 exchange. Apple Malaysia usually does not allow 1-1 exchange though, same goes to Mac & iPod devices.By the way, mine has a USA batch model. How come it can be fully unlock? Maybe refurbished unit? In Settings>General>About>Carrier it shows (null) (null) where it is suppose to show Maxis 3.1. Done with hardware issues, now with software issues. Added on June 5, 2009, 7:15 pmSo in my case: Home button, light leaks, & yellow tinted screen issues are on Singapore batch model. Now: Having an official unlocked unit but the origin of the phone is from USA, weird indeed. This post has been edited by Mike3300: Jun 5 2009, 07:16 PM |

In the interest of Maxis iPhone owners at large, are you saying the replacement unit you got from Maxis is of USA origin(by identification of Part/Model No.)?By the way, mine has a USA batch model. Would appreciate your advice. TQ. |

As an after-thought, I remember there is a reseller in our forum, who was selling an exchanged officially unlocked SingTel set claimed under warranty and he did state that the Part/Model No. is that of the State's.If so, why did you not raise the issue with them? And are you sure it is unlocked? Would appreciate your advice. TQ. So, is this the standard practice for a 1 for 1 exchange warranty claim? Could someone give some insight on this issue? |

hey guys. Im currently using Iphone 2G and thinking want to change to 3G because the new software mostly will benifit the 3G users. So, i just wantt to know if the Hotlink Plan is worth it cause I dont want to have a contract with Maxis. Plus, im a holink user. But now still dont understand what is the differnt if I buy from outside(garage sale etc) and hotlink. Oh ya, by da way,i do really need an Iphone that can be update through Itunes not like what I did now. have to send to workshop and let the person update the software for me. is there any?

Just when I thought I would have an ease of mind with official unlocked unit and official warranty, tomorrow's weekend. I'm gonna holler them up again by Monday. This sucks though.
Added on June 6, 2009, 3:31 amYes, when I boot up the phone. It says activation needed and the the staff just proceeded with the activation. Does anyone here have the same problem? yeah. probably. since all US-bound units are locked. but i'm not sure how Maxis is able to unlock them though. (definitely not the yellowsn0w way)nope. never had that issue with headphone jack + autoplay. (using a UK set) This post has been edited by teikwing: Jun 6 2009, 02:53 PM |
