the heat up part isn't the battery part.

last time my E71 even compact, slim until unbelievable, but also didn't heat up at all ooo...
maybe because Omnia processor has a high clock-speed.

Added on April 7, 2009, 11:58 pmAre you on latest ROM? It is lighter and battery last longer. Also remember to kill unwanted programs because you are merely minimising it to background. Get a good Task Manager that allow you to close program from Today screen will be handy.


Should not be that, maybe like your said your Omnia running heavy load. It is a mobile phone before you forgotten to load it like a PC.

may i know if i set my Email box syn every day by GPRS, the syn will be at what time? (i already set up Maxis 3G WAP d)
how to set it syn at mid night? (because after 12.00, data rate is cheaper.)

seem like only Hotmail account can schedule to syn at specific time range only right?
yahoo can not?

and after syn by GPRS, once the GPRS started, it will not switch off automatic when not using,
need to go Data Call Manager to disconnect it. Any idea?


(searching around on internet, found that key in *#0*# in phone call mode,
can test each function of your Omnia, ie. lcd death pixel, vibration, sound, touch screen, both camera, .... ...
for future buyer can do this test on the spot, to make sure your Omnia is problem-free. )

dont misunderstood. i'm not letting my frustration here. just to share my experience in upgrading rom in different way.
the 1st page tips are useful but if some thing came differently, we'll have doubt n will double check here to avoid damaging the phone

mapking needs port splitter..otherwise it won't work..google it

Several of the problems that I haven't found a way to solve it:

1. Touch player sometimes shut down itself when played in full screen mode. Could it be due to memory leak?

2. Video recording in MMS mode depends on what? program memory? because it seems that the lower the ROM, the shorter duration of MMS I can take right now..any workaround on this?

1. Streaming player - I have never use it succesfully..usually it says time-out..I end up using coreplayer instead to watch youtube..how come others can?

2. Not a problem of the omnia per se.. but I would love to know whether when someone calls us, the etiquette pause can be prolonged even when we face the phone again.right now it will stay ringing even we move the phone an inch towards us.
Kinda envy 5800 has this feature that stay silent even you look at the screen. This way we can have the option to see who's calling, and whether to reject or ignore

1. touch player hangs? never encounter unless the video resolution too high~~ but 640 X 480 should be ok~ anything more than that will caused lagging, another reason probably the codec, for video playing the best is still use coreplayer.

2. video recording usually unlimited, if u recording only not sending, but when sending mms will got limited time and file size, just like ur sms limitation

3. streaming player not suitable to run flv files from youtube, unless its a mobile youtube that plays 3gp format

4. so far nope no alternative~

have you guys tried Sector WinMo6.5 rom??? do you face any problem with the waking up/lock thingy?

I just updated to latest firmware. I read that u can bring up the "task manager" just sliding up from the bottom bar or press and hold "main menu" will bring up the "task manager" but i tried both, all also cannot
.. so hard meh? sigh

huh? my phone hold the "main menu" button will not bring out task manager.

to bring out task switcher, use your finger nail (not thumb) press the center of the bottom bar (the bar left side is "phone", right side is "main menu") and hold, and slide upward 2cm, and release. i'm sure your Omnia also can, as long as it's DZIA5 rom.

the main purpose is to kill all background application only ma,
so can call task switcher out, then press right side bottom bar "end all task". done.

the main menu button is depend on your setting..
please check in Settings > Personal > Buttons
what program did you assign on Main Menu button

the task switcher one, it must be something wrong with ur device..
other people dont have problem to do that..
are you using official ROM or custom ROM?
or maybe u did install apps that prevent any gestures on your screen.

Already check the :

1. "Main Menu" is assigned to "Main Menu"
2. "Main Menu hold" is assigned to "Task Switcher"

I'm using official ROM.

New Omnia, I havent install anything yet. Shd bring bck to Samsung, KLCC area got or not?

1. Nope..not hang..but close itself..but only when i play in fullscreen mode..problem is, it doesn't happen everytime. usually, the next time I play it will be fine..almost the same case like camera last time la - when it cannot take pic due to so-called low memory, sometimes ok sometimes not.

2. but still, to what extent is the limitation? currently, at most I can take only 3sec of MMS only..so malu.. ..my previous cheaper phones can take much longer than that..

4. Thanks..but I think probably we can mod the registry..just not sure and dare to do it..

Added on April 9, 2009, 9:20 amGuys, I realize that the signal strength is not as good as other phone..In this case I'm comparing it with my wife's 5800..which at our home almost constantly receiving 3.5G..while mine switching on and off between 3G, E and G..only sometimes receiving 3.5..I don't know could this be due to some hard dropping that my omnia has received or simply the nature of the phone itself..

so the golden question is, do we have any software that can boost or capture the signal strength..I need this as I'm a frequent video caller..without 3G yillekk la..

I have googled but nothing concrete comes in yet..only there is something called OnSpeed..but not really sure..anyone?Baronic?

ya got some bugs about lock things..
need to press on/off button then it will show lock screen..

i only use it for 3 days haha..
after dat change to shokka lite rom..
then i install my apps dat i like..
the rest is free memory

i want cook rom but duno how haha..
so the easiest way find lite rom then install the apps dat i like..

no3. yup but streaming externally flash adobe codec is not free for mobile phone unlike flash player i think thats why the builtin streaming player not supporting the format, the major file for streaming is still 3gp format. this one need ask our sifu sifu that know well things about these. normally youtube can be viewed direct from web browser hehe

1. low memory problem no idea, never encounter such, but from what i know, you better check if u got sync media files or not, sometimes if u open windows media player which using active sync will caused them to automatically snyc music files into ur phone memory (not into ur my storage but in ur default folder)

2. never counted those video file size i sent, but surely more than 3 sec, did you try do some setting to mms?
u go ur messaging > mms option > go to the end got one option "compose" > change ur mms class to moderate video > then go to "sending" option change message size to 295k instead of 95k

im still on Sector I2 winmo6.5 rom..i read in this thread--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468048 saying that the cause of this phone waking/locking up thingy is due to SRS WOW software installed. i dunno if that's true or not. i've just uninstalled the SRS WOW .. we'll see how it goes.. hopefully, no more such problem..

I don't know.usually when I click the video, the streaming player will pop up.so I was forced to use that player instead.

1. I'm pretty sure I haven't sync media before when this problem happen.nvm thanks anyway. still have coreplayer and windows player when touch player down.

2. Oh yeah..tqvm..I forgot to change the setting after ROM update..meaning I get back the same duration like last time.which is only 11 sec..pretty mediocre to me actually compared to other phones




On the signal/data booster..anyone have any idea whether such application exists? I realized with soft reset, signal will be better.mostly due to the receiver trying hard from reboot to get the best signal..but when idle sometimes even G cannot be detected..

but im not very familiar wif winmo 6.5..
so juz use only 3 days haha..
i dun like the today's home screen..
need to scroll2..
