hi,

i'm going to buy an Omnia.

i heard too many advantages of Omnia,
may i know more disadvantages of Omnia?
what i know is : no integrated stylus, not mini/micro USB.
some more?

Cnet.com there listed Omnia as Top 5 camera phone,
may i know Omnia camera is really that good?

I also know that Omnia battery life quite good too,
may i know how many day your phone last after a full charge?

Tq every one, will appreciate your response.

i think your Omnia is bought from a forumer, name Siemens right...

any one know what is the price for an malaysia FMG set Omnia 8gb?
which shop in KL is the best place to buy?

my simcard is broken after 5 years usage..
the phone it self dun have problem ..
tq for concern
*
"can receive sms & call, but can't send sms & call" is SIM card broken?
so weird...
actually me and my friend also having this problem sometime,
our SIM card is Hotlink, also about 5 year already.
dono is the same problem with u or not.

i'm a E71 user before this,
i decided to shift to Omnia is because i don't like the qwerty keypad any more,
i want a Touch qwerty, more faster when typing since no need really press the button, just touch touch touch... rclxm9.gif

Singapore set price really attractive, just the warranty problem make me think twice.

Both Singapore & Malaysia set Omnia have Chinese input?
Singapore set Omnia can give to Malaysia Samsung service center to update the ROM / firmware?
Will charge me money?

Thank you for the explaination.
i used Window Mobile 6.1 before (HTC Touch),
but sold already, main reason is HTC Touch nothing much to play,
and what is dislike is Window Mobile drain the battery. laugh.gif

last time i using Window Mobile, i didn't flash the ROM,
just normal use like that only.
i dono such a lot of thing to play with it.

will bring back an Omnia sooooon...
after get it, need every Sifu here teach me.
TQ in advance. notworthy.gif

Added on April 2, 2009, 11:48 amBy the way, some thing to ask,

that day i got a chance to try playing Omnia,
i found that the Touch screen quite hard to press,
means that need to use the nail to hit the screen,
no response if touch softly by thumb. Is this true?

and the navi-button (in between end & answer key),
not very sensitive like laptop touch-pad.
Really like that?

The is no provision in WM to close an application with the X. It will only minimize. You need a third party program, like HandySwitcher, to close it with the X. Of course Task Manager can close it.
*
ooo... like that,
some one told me that WM6.1 can kill application by "X",
and last time my HTC Touch can direct kill application by "X" also,
so i thought that is integrated function d. hmm.gif

nvm, luckily i found that by sliding your finger from the bottom bar upward 2cm
can direct open the "task switcher" d. haha, quite convenience.

those photo snap by my Omnia, color seem like wash out, when using "SCN" mode,
must use "fall color" mode in order a reduce noise and get nicer color, icon_idea.gif
but your hand must be very steady, else will get blur image.

until now i still haven't successfully set up my GPRS, wifi setting, GPS, .... ...
although already follow the guideline that posted here long time ago, so sad.
quite busy recently, later free only go to explore it lar... tongue.gif

( icon_question.gif wan to install Iphone theme, but too complicated d, no time to do so, easier method? tongue.gif )

For GPRS you can go to the internet, eg Maxis, and configure your GPRS/3G settings.
For WiFi, ensure that the Data Encryption at your device matches that of the wifi modem you are trying to connect. The Data Encryption differs for different modem.
For GPS, it is a lo...............ng and tedious process to get it working.
*
yup, i'm Hotlink user,
tried to get GPRS setting by *100#,
but came out error message when i want to retrieve the setting.

i would like to know how to install Iphone theme drool.gif

Edit registry or use third party Tweak/Tune program, like SKTools to do it

hi,
i refer here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419414
to install Iphone skin.

i know must install Spb first,
and Spb is already installed successfully and working nicely,
but the instruction there stated:

Instructions
- This theme requires a bit of small tweaking to set up
- Copy all files to your SPB Mobile Shell folder on your PPC, then soft reset

So i just follow it, copy all files to SPB folder, then do soft reset,
but fail, after soft reset, the Spb still nothing change.
can u help me clarify how? laugh.gif
tq.

Why don't u install imArche skin from here
http://www.imarche.net/omnia/index.php
not even iphone, other themes also got..
it's a must themes for SPB Mobile Shell..smile.gif

or the easiest way to have an iphone theme is by installing ifonz..
http://thedogcorner.blogspot.com/2008/10/ifonz-112.html

exactly same like iphone and its free..

if u want more nice icons, look at this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424678
(originial icons in ifonz look pixelated)
*
"Ifonz" i tried d,
but fail.
after click the "ifonz.exe" file to install,
the phone came out a message: "the app requires a newer version of the microsoft.NET Compact Framework."

what is the problem? how come other can install it successfully?

Added on April 7, 2009, 10:27 pm

Yea now u can change whatever colour you wan .  smile.gif
*
wao... quite cheap,
hopefully KL service center here also same price. tongue.gif

later got time will buy a black cover,
hence there is no point to stick the screen protector at the back,
since the cover is cheap only. rolleyes.gif

did u ask what color is available?
so u bought what color?
got picture to see?

I am on Shokka9 WinMob 6.5 Lite ROM, battery at 50% after 3 days. Should last 4~5 days. Also I do not has SPB Shell, Skin program or S2U2 running (WinMob 6.5 comes with something similiar.) Original HH3 ROM last only 1~1.5 days. So, ROM and Softwares running in background do make lots of difference.

Are you on ActiveSync? During ActiveSync, especially transferring large file or internet sharing, it can get hot very fast. I think the design is too compact, so the heat do not lose fast enough.
*
not, not on activesyn or charging.
just taking photo, bluetooth transfer, like that only.
the heat up part isn't the battery part. blush.gif

last time my E71 even compact, slim until unbelievable, but also didn't heat up at all ooo...
maybe because Omnia processor has a high clock-speed. hmm.gif

that is so weird,
take photo by "smile detection" only should not be a heavy load right...

icon_question.gif
may i know if i set my Email box syn every day by GPRS, the syn will be at what time? (i already set up Maxis 3G WAP d)
how to set it syn at mid night? (because after 12.00, data rate is cheaper.) tongue.gif

seem like only Hotmail account can schedule to syn at specific time range only right?
yahoo can not? hmm.gif

and after syn by GPRS, once the GPRS started, it will not switch off automatic when not using,
need to go Data Call Manager to disconnect it. Any idea?

(searching around on internet, found that key in *#0*# in phone call mode,
can test each function of your Omnia, ie. lcd death pixel, vibration, sound, touch screen, both camera, .... ...
for future buyer can do this test on the spot, to make sure your Omnia is problem-free. laugh.gif )

I just updated to latest firmware. I read that u can bring up the "task manager" just sliding up from the bottom bar or press and hold "main menu" will bring up the "task manager" but i tried both, all also cannot
sad.gif  .. so hard meh? sigh
*
huh? my phone hold the "main menu" button will not bring out task manager.

to bring out task switcher, use your finger nail (not thumb) press the center of the bottom bar (the bar left side is "phone", right side is "main menu") and hold, and slide upward 2cm, and release. i'm sure your Omnia also can, as long as it's DZIA5 rom.

the main purpose is to kill all background application only ma,
so can call task switcher out, then press right side bottom bar "end all task". done. laugh.gif

On the signal/data booster..anyone have any idea whether such application exists? I realized with soft reset, signal will be better.mostly due to the receiver trying hard from reboot to get the best signal..but when idle sometimes even G cannot be detected.. shocking.gif
*
i don't think got such software,
if boost up the signal, that will drain your battery drastically.
if not mistaken, when u connected to a video call, the phone will automatically boost up the 3G signal. unsure.gif

I always manually disconnect the 3G connection at Data Call Manager each time after not using the 3G,
as to save my battery power when i'm in weak 3G signal area,
luckily the phone doesn't re-connect back for me. tongue.gif

This few days keep on playing my Omnia,
no chance to really test the battery life of Omnia since i bought it.
Since now quite busy with other thing, so can really make a test on my Omnia standby time d.
So far, i found that after fully charge it, the first battery bar (10%) can last for 20 hours standby time! (with moderate use)
that is quite near to my E71 battery performance. drool.gif Amazing.

but hopefully the remaining battery bar standby time is same with the first bar,
now still until testing,
if standby time for each bar is same, it should at least last for 5 days ! laugh.gif
hopefully... ...
