I wonder if Omnian here modified their interface or installed lots of nice softwares/games, perhaps it is good idea to post screenshot to share. It is good exchange tips to improve the userability, especially those first time touch screen users.

you can try Today Agenda from MT Software..
this program is a freeware and it will automaticaly retrieve your birthday contacts in calendar

try google it..forget the url..
*
The basic calendar functions that comes with WinMobile does support this. Just set the relevant date and it will eventually appear on your Today screen when it is approaching. You can also set to alert you several hours before.

Dear Omnians;

I will say good bye from here as I've traded my Omnia with a SE phone smile.gif

SOME of the Reasons (and not to offend anyone)

1. camera on Omnia really shucks - only good for outdoor with very very good lightings

2. need to soft reset almost every alternate day due to 3rd party s/w like SPB shell...etc

3. to make a call - too many buttons to press n go thru

4. touch-screen - don't know how long it will last sad.gif

5. with ROM and 3rd party s/w - it's just a cover all to old ugly WM. Hopefully WM6.5 or 7 is better

Cheers GUYS!

Will not be coming to this thread anymore

Conventional mobile users may not get used to smartphone during the initial period but once you got confortable with its operation and functions, you will find conventional phones are too lacking. You can install some of the finger friendly software like iDialer, iPhone theme, etc.. You can have too high expectation on cameraphone although Omnia comes with 5mb with flash, try to compare that with other phones. Soft reset every other day is common once you installed too many 3rd party softwares, the same problem with your pc if you run it for several days.

The USB cable allow you to sync data with your pc and also charge at the same time, extremely useful especially with huge file installation / transfer.

What do you expect when the poster above you is selling at 1500 red kaler samore - lol
*
If you willing to trade in yours for Rm1,000, I will take it as much as you can trade in, deal? The fact is that most shops do not specialised in smartphone and have limited customer base, thus can only offer lower trade in price to gather for the risk and time expected to resell it. Of course, the shops also has the excuse that they have rental and salary to pay, so got to cover their overheads. BTW, we are selling at very new used set at low price for the fact that we believe in volume & fast turnover with slim margin. It benefit the everyone, Seller get their sets trade in fast and high while Buyer get new used set at competitive price, win win for all.

At least you can be assured that Spore set are from authorised distributor with warranty from Samsung Singapore, unlike those from unknown AP or water sets. Don't be too suprise if new used sets are sold as new set with new stickers only. biggrin.gif

Long time never been here... How you guys omnia?
Anyway anyone here using S2u2 software? how is it? is it smooth or lag??
Althought I am using this phone more than half year but still not ready try any software... he he so kinda noob ya.
SO i need to download the S2u2 QVGA/WQVGA version or the VGA/WVGA version?
*
The advantage of using Window Mobile phone is that you have whole lots of software (freebies & licensed) to play with and customise your set. So you don't have to bear with the same old boring set everyday. No harm to try established softwares, you can just uninstall it easily. Otherwise you miss so much fun after paying so much to own a high techie gadget.

guys is it advisable to buy an omnia sg set from the traders here? or should i wait for the price to drop after omnia hd comes out?
*
I guess it is difficult to find shop selling as cheap as those seller here because they have much lower overhead and many are actually owner that just wanted to upgrade their used set for something else.

Looking at the spec of Omnia HD and the pricing of other HD, it should be priced at higher price range. Take an example Touch 3G, then Touch Pro and then Touch HD. Each of them is priced several hundred apart. So the question is which model suiting your need. Handset price always drop every few months, no matter how you wait.. it will still can drop further and before you know, there is another better new model came out and you may hope to wait for it to go down again. So lots of buyers actually just bought the model that they like and sell it away when newer model is launched because they will just need to top up few hundred extra.

I have checked the first few pages for more info on ROM but it listed on the latest ROM. Perhaps it is good if we can make a list of owners, their ROM and comments so this way will allow others to see which ROM is more popular and if any issues with them.

Also did anyone tested out upgrading to Win Mobile 6.5? It is faster and save more battery. I am tempting to upgrade to Win Mobile 6.5 but I heard from another forum that there maybe compatible issues with some softwares. So perhaps it is good to share if anyone here upgraded.

hi,

i'm going to buy an Omnia.

i heard too many advantages of Omnia,
may i know more disadvantages of Omnia?
what i know is : no integrated stylus, not mini/micro USB.
some more?

Cnet.com there listed Omnia as Top 5 camera phone,
may i know Omnia camera is really that good?

I also know that Omnia battery life quite good too,
may i know how many day your phone last after a full charge?

Tq every one, will appreciate your response.

If you don't mind no physical qwerty keyboard, it is pretty perfect. Stylish, not bulky, good spec. I would like its speaker volume to go higher, kind of soft if in public place.

For about a week or so, I had been using Shokka9's rom, it is cooked with WinMo 6.5.
So far, so good. Fast, Stable and more Memory Storage, until now never had trouble.  thumbup.gif
Also installed some other softwares, Memory Storage still very generous.  flex.gif
[attachmentid=879417][attachmentid=879403][attachmentid=879404]

There's a link in Post #1 on how to tweak the volume. I've been using it for every flashed and I am very please with my Omnia's volume.  rclxm9.gif
*
Yeah, 6.1 slightly lag and hh3 drain battery fast. I have been waiting for more feedback on WinMo 6.5 to upgrade everything at one go. What softwares you tried working fine on WinMo 6.5? The most important software for me is EQO.com (a multi IM network messenger) or other IM softwares, are you using any?

The is no provision in WM to close an application with the X. It will only minimize. You need a third party program, like HandySwitcher, to close it with the X. Of course Task Manager can close it.
*
I remember WinMob 6.0 has this option in Setting to either hold on X to close the application but seems missing in WinMob 6.5.

hi i'm a new owner of omina 16gb, white ~
may i know how long did the battery last for ur omnia ?
after using spb shell and s2u2.. it seem like very fast 2 finsih the battery life...
*
I am on Shokka9 WinMob 6.5 ROM, battery at 50% after 3 days. Should last 4~5 days. Also I do not has SPB Shell, Skin program or S2U2 running (WinMob 6.5 comes with something similiar.) Original HH3 ROM last only 1~1.5 days. So, ROM and Softwares running in background do make lots of difference.

seem like every one have forgotten my question:

this few days playing with my Omnia,
i found that it heat up easily, i'm sure that the heat isn't come from my palm, because i just hold the Omnia by finger at side,
is this normal ?
*
Are you on ActiveSync? During ActiveSync, especially transferring large file or internet sharing, it can get hot very fast. I think the design is too compact, so the heat do not lose fast enough.

Dear Omnia Sifus...hope you guys can help me out with some problems...

1) Seems like my phone uses up the battery very fast. Flashed to new ROM plus have made sure that all unused tasks are closed. But it seems that by just exploring around the phone (GPS, radio etc) for 1-2 hours already drained 50% of the battery. Is it normal? Or is it because I keep the screen on for too long?

2) My Today page with the widgets seems to be lagging. Is it because my device storage (not the 8gb and not the storage card) is 75% full? Can you guys recommend what items to delete? As far as I know I only have garmin there. However if I move Garmin to "MY STORAGE", it doesn't work anymore.

Need your help guys. Love the phone so much. Just that sometimes it lags and drains battery.

Thanks in advance
*
Are you on latest ROM? It is lighter and battery last longer. Also remember to kill unwanted programs because you are merely minimising it to background. Get a good Task Manager that allow you to close program from Today screen will be handy.

QUOTE(twlau @ Apr 7 2009, 11:27 PM)

not, not on activesyn or charging.
just taking photo, bluetooth transfer, like that only.
the heat up part isn't the battery part.  blush.gif

last time my E71 even compact, slim until unbelievable, but also didn't heat up at all ooo...
maybe because Omnia processor has a high clock-speed.  hmm.gif
*
Should not be that, maybe like your said your Omnia running heavy load. It is a mobile phone before you forgotten to load it like a PC.

Mine on Shokka9 WinMob 6.5 Lite ROM last 5~6 days, last charged was on last Fri morning till this Thurs morning. When I was on HH3, it last 1~1.5 days. No S2U2, No Skinning Theme, just plain simple WinMob 6.5 Classic Blue.

Sell your battery with those that hoping to last longer. Actually should not be the battery but the ROM, softwares running in background and usage.
