Just got my R4870 fried last week. I'm now comparing HD4890 vs the newly release GTX275. They both are direct competitor which share the same price range. I'm very impress with HD4870 now but GTX275 with some extra features is quite attractive as well.
Very hard to decide now rclxub.gif

personally i would take gtx 275 if i you want a more silent card but higher load temp....4890 is good too but slightly more noisy but lower load temp....also must take into consideration is your casing space....gtx 275 is friggin long at 10.5 inch

Just OCed my processor to 3.2Ghz and getting P14166 for 3dmarkvantage. Crossfired 4890 1GB with 4870 1GB. Old score with no overclock is 12693. I think my processor or P45 can't handle 4870 crossfire. 8x lanes are slow.

QUOTE(aichiban @ Apr 10 2009, 06:38 PM)
everything on default
nothing changed
driver is catalyst 9.4

but my 3DmarkVantage score is lower than 9000
opinion please  icon_question.gif  wub.gif

Your score is really low for Corei7 with x58 chipset.

Try checking your hardware connections. Then reinstall drivers and defrag your hard disk. There is definitely something wrong there cause I have P10258 (9970 GPU) score with my Q9450@2.66Ghz using Asus EAH4890 1GB DDR5 on Asus P5Q Deluxe motherboard.

newbie sometimes can be very cute, in this case bai is one. sweat.gif

1ghz vs 850mhz core is a huge a difference bro. when the core and memory are oc'ed, the pixel, texture and bandwidth rate will naturally increase as well. GPUZ will show those figures accordingly too.

hhmm... i kept emphasizing catalyst AI bcoz mine dropped by 1000 points back when i was using my 4850 and 4870. so i guess it varies differently in individual rig.

but come to think of it, the score should be about right. u will be surprised of how far the GC can jump when u bump it up by 50mhz. why dont u give it a spin? try bumping up your core by 50mhz / memory by 25mhz and see how it turns out.

1.1ghz? hope that's only for benching purpose... otherwise prepare to let it R.I.P.
