depends from what GPU u are migrating from

if u are using old GPU, a sudden migration for 4890 is better than 4870.

the 4890 seems to have more overclocking room as well, reaching near gtx 285 default clocks, which costs about RM1500 today

its worth from old gpu to 4890, but from 4870 to 4890, not really great investment

Thks 4 the info.

so i assume you crossfire 4870 512mb with 4890 1gB?

when you crossfire such configuration...the system will take the lowest amount of gpu memory (512mb in this case) and in order to well-sync with the 2nd card.

So Sniper69 sell ur 4870 to me man... Wahaha.

Are you referring to me? Yes I'm using Sapphire but I overclocked it to 980/1180 only. smile.gif

im using sapphire 4890 1gb also
tried OC-ing through Overdrive
even in slight adjustment, i can see a lil mili-stud in several seconds in 3D mark vantage
my eyes quite sensitive, so can definitely see the difference in each OC increment

still benchable though, no artifacts for those slight increments
didnt bother, set to default afterwards

To everyone who has problems with getting Radeon 4890 to work with rivatuner, please try this page. Downlaod what they told you to download.

http://www.guru3d.com/article/overclocking...adeon-hd-4890/2

You cannot direct link the files(ben_panced tried miserably), they won't download unless the referrer is set to guru3d.

the performance difference , trade punches? shocking.gif

Its weird..according to member's with long epenor here...4890CF is nowhere near GTX285SLI performance.

Backthen Xbitlabs did said that CrossFireX configuration was abit hassle...but now no more? or they just keep it silent?
