QUOTE(Omage007 @ Mar 9 2009, 02:22 PM) If this baby is going to compete with GTX 285, so the price should be around $299-$349, right? But I don't know is it a wise step for ATI drop the 4870 to $149, coz it not only affect the NVidia card, but also ATI own product, now 4870 CF only need $298, yet 4870 X2 is selling at $399-$449, and this 4890, who is going to buy this card which is only 20%+ better then a 4870 instead of 4870 CF which offer 80%+ better? No, the latest rumor says that the 4890 going to compete with GTX260 core 216, 4890 iz juz like gtx260 core 216(update from gtx 260 192 sp)

QUOTE(nazseha @ Mar 9 2009, 06:34 PM) GTX285 is diff category d...cannot compare like tat.. 1 core vs 2 core? C'mon... lol not this syhtthing again so...are you saying that 4870x2 cannot be compare with gtx295? because 4870x2 use one pcb while gtx295 use two pcb C'mon... who cares it is 1 core or 2 core, we are comparing the performance (or price), not the core

QUOTE(nazseha @ Mar 10 2009, 03:08 AM) Zzz...u can say anything u want..typical ATi fanboy...cannot accept the truth... 4870 2x should compete with GTX 285 SLi or GTX260 SLi..not Single GTX285...DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH!!! I out of here.. Im not sure which one of us cannot accept the truth lol But i know the basic rule : single gpu always better than dual gpu/SLi/CF (yeah, gtx285/gtx260/4870 is what im talking about) and gtx280 won't have price cuts(at june/july) if all people(including nvidia) agree with your comparison This post has been edited by pikacu: Mar 10 2009, 08:20 AM

QUOTE(nazseha @ Mar 10 2009, 03:13 PM) Another crap...then y got SLI / CF technology? Juz for SHOW OFF? ha4ha0ha4ha Indeed multi gpu delivers more performance. Lets say if one's want to buy GTX285 or 4850x2/GTX285 or 9800GX2 ( if both card are at the same price), i'd recommend GTX285 over 4850x2/9800GX2. but it seems you doesn't aware of some known multi-gpu issues, try to google up/search at youtube. QUOTE(Jcsy @ Apr 2 2009, 04:20 PM) on post #436 by X.E.D, seems that in game testing, the 4890 OC'ed can really perform in most games against the GTX 275 or 285 even dun mention GTX285 OC'ed, its price is unreasonable =.= Try lurk around HD4890 oc results, differ website will give differ outcome

QUOTE(sniper69 @ Apr 7 2009, 11:04 PM) yeap... it solved afer installed the Asus driver, but the thing is... i do not understand, why should clear the BIOS, use the Asus driver... , but not a big issue though... as long can run, then ok la... current Cat 9.3 do not have any info on RV790 (cat 9.3 released on 3rd week of march, while HD4890 released on 2 April 2009..), need to use the driver from bundled disc...(which is Cat 9.4 beta) Cat 9.4 will recognize HD4890 and as for clear cmos, i have no idea why must do that

some nice info on HD4890 : http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=90117&page=21) Two users that bump their vgpu to 1.35(stock : 1.31) able to hit 1000Mhz core clock (im not sure either they have golden chip or not, but worth a try) 2) 1200Mhz memory speed (4800Mhz) is achievable with air cooling. they use VoltageFactory to bump the vgpu : http://www.awardfabrik.de/forum/showthread.php?t=5707good luck to HD4890 user

QUOTE(gto87 @ Apr 8 2009, 04:46 AM) Pergh, I don't even know how to do those things so, I'm not dare enough to do it. Will try to google and gain some knowledge about it anyway. Btw, I contacted the Sapphire Tech Support Center to ask them about the HD4890 driver and they replied to me saying that the driver will be available sometime this week. 0.04 volt bump quite safe imo

Don't think sapphire and other brand does that Added on April 9, 2009, 1:49 amWell, 4890 is like 5 times faster then HD2900XT? lol so the heat justify it, the faster the fps you want the more heat is needed wooo nice! maximum clock available on the CCC benchmark
