QUOTE(fablefox @ Sep 14 2014, 08:12 PM) just asking, which is easier and last longer. - cooking using gas power where you screw the stove over the tiny gas tank - cooking using fuel power where you link the stove to the fuel bank (ala maple leaf) thanks. --edit-- focus here is for one man. the full size stove where you insert gas cartridge to the side does not count Do you have image which you could share as I do not understand what you are trying to say?

QUOTE(fablefox @ Sep 15 2014, 01:46 AM) links http://www.outdoor-gear-malaysia.com/tag/c...toves-malaysia/http://www.fire-maple.com/en/productsinfo.aspx?pid=3image The first one is where you screw the stove on top of gas tank. I think the other one you use normal petrol fuel. you pump it and start the stove. I think that how the sales person explain. But I think he is just a salesperson and never went camping, so doesn't know which are more useful for one person to cook. --edit-- my point is, if you want to cook, say, a mess-tin for one person, a pot of rice and basic heating of sardines, for say, 3D2N of camping, which kind of stove better in the long run. IC you are referring to the CampinGaz by Evergreen distributors. I never use Maple Leaf before but it seems like those using the steamboat cylinders. I prefer to use CV470 all the time even though it is slightly heavy. Still a cooking stove in the end. Most important for your end, does weight matters to you?

QUOTE(egyprince @ Sep 19 2014, 05:37 PM) I plan to use either one of the method for my nepal trip. Read many blog saying that it is better be safe over there. Aww ic. I never been to Nepal before therefore I do not know how's the water quality there. If you are okay with the tablets, you could opt for that. Share with us the pictures upon completion. Which trek by the way?

QUOTE(Sky.Live @ Sep 25 2014, 04:28 PM) Just did Mt. Fansipan.. Difficult hike for my standard, especially with a very fatigue legs to begin with. Extremely steep and later on became mud feast. Weather was perfect that day, could have been worse if it rains. My friend invited me to hike Mt. Mera, guess I am not ready to do a 20 days hike yet. pass Difficult hike for your standard? Your stamina is quite good and Fansipan should not be a problem for you if you are to hike Rinjani before. No need to head so far to try long hikes. Try Gunung Tahan via Kuala Tahan (7 days) or Gunung Noring (6 days).

QUOTE(Sky.Live @ Sep 29 2014, 02:45 PM) I was extremely tired from doing Vietnam Mountain Marathon, could not even wear a shoe because all my toe nails are swollen. I bought a fake Teva sandals and hike with it. The muddy part is a nightmare as mud goes between my soles, my feet start sliding between my shoe soles as well. There's a cable car construction going on, the trail is badly damaged by the construction as it is a mud wonderland now. The starting hike is very enjoyable, very scenic and cooling. We have seen a triangle head, bright yellow/green snake too, freak the hell out of me as I am the first one to see it. Lack of proper shoe is the main cause why I am so tired. Snakes just too common. You will get used to see one if you look around properly. Why wear sandals to hike? I never like sandals even I am to trek simple hills or even waterfalls. Show us some pictures.

QUOTE(Sky.Live @ Sep 29 2014, 03:45 PM) Too freak out to focus properly on the snake, the guide said it's very venomous when we describe to him. Just that not sure why the snake would be at elevation of 2900+ It is definitely one of the pit viper but to identify it will need a picture.

QUOTE(Sky.Live @ Sep 30 2014, 12:38 AM) I think likely one or two will join me as most will be overly exhausted from the hike. I want to do a sunset hike if it's possible, one of my friend has done it before Sounds great. I did via Ferrata few years back and if the weather doesn't sides you - your money just got burn with no refund. Luckily it started to rain 1 km after we started so we go no option but to proceed Wasted not much picture at that time as I am carrying a SLR.

QUOTE(quadcube @ Nov 5 2014, 09:39 AM) genting bukit bunga raya(if the bukit name is correct),the leech are on the road, tar road not some stream or river or jungle...they wait for your arrival come visit borneo, where u get tiger leeches instead of the normal ones It is Bunga Buah my friend. The leeches were never on the road. After the tar road, where the high bushes before the descent up, the leeches are all there. 99% normal leech and 1% tiger leech. Tiger leeches often seen within Perak mountains like Gunung Liang, Gunung Inas and Gunung Bubu, Ulu Kenas.

QUOTE(Celia Lim @ Nov 4 2014, 11:38 PM) is it common at Chenuang? I heard that it is common at Mount KK.. If you are referring to Chenuang, hardly have if you use the Sungai Congkak route. If you used the old way via Ampang, high chances you will encounter them plus it is a distance to trek. Possible encounter wild cats too.

QUOTE(Celia Lim @ Nov 8 2014, 09:47 AM) I'm entering through Congkak recreational park, is that the Sg Congkak route? Yes. The trailhead is somewhere near a building behind. Trek about 1-3 minutes the trailhead on your right. Cross a few small streams. Lots of bamboos and leeches. The confusion part when you are near to the peak where u need to make a U loop. Head straight will reach Batu Hampar (if I am not mistaken - been a while since I last trek there since 2011). The beirut still standing strong there. Last time, there are metal handle along the way towards the peak but due to overgrown trees, some trekkers chop off the metal railing and no longer can be use. Beirut should be mark with an Adidas logo and clear view of Klang Gate dam can be seen.

QUOTE(Celia Lim @ Nov 9 2014, 09:14 PM) Didn't finish Chenuang in the end, there were massive undergrowth towards the end which made it almost impossible to pass through without parangs/tools. But will definitely try again tho! >:) My friend mentioned Gunung Datuk, and I saw pics of it that seemed very fun! Anyone been there? Gunung Datuk is a very common hiking ground for a lot of hikers. You could use the GPS to lead you there. You will need to register yourself and pay RM5 for entry fees. Nice view, approximate 2 hours up 1.5 hours down for beginners. But somehow someone got lost at Datuk recently. http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2014...ng-Gunung-Dato/Luckily nothing goes wrong to her. http://www.sinarharian.com.my/edisi/melaka...-datuk-1.331745Back to Chenuang, it is not a common trekking ground as most people are unaware of it. People hike the well known Nuang either via Pangsoon or Janda Baik. It is best for you to engage a guide to Chenuang if you are first time there. Just pay a minimal fee and make the arrangement with the Selangor Forestry Department.

QUOTE(Celia Lim @ Nov 10 2014, 02:14 PM) Wow, guess it isn't really recommended to go for solo hiking unless one's very experienced The entrance is through Hutan Lipur Gunung Datuk? Yeah located at Rembau area. The confusion part located at two area. One which is located about 15-25 minutes into the hike from the starting point, the other is when near to the peak where there is a junction head to nearby mountain called Gunung Rembau. I would prefer anyone to go in a group just in case you are not familiar of getting lost in the forest.
