Snake or hike, I am fine with anything. Hopefully not the viper I am thinking now.

Too freak out to focus properly on the snake, the guide said it's very venomous when we describe to him. Just that not sure why the snake would be at elevation of 2900+

It is definitely one of the pit viper but to identify it will need a picture.

If you members afraid of height, do not be too happy if you are to the Low Circuit. Seems short but hell it is one of the ride.

I think likely one or two will join me as most will be overly exhausted from the hike.
I want to do a sunset hike if it's possible, one of my friend has done it before

Sounds great. I did via Ferrata few years back and if the weather doesn't sides you - your money just got burn with no refund. Luckily it started to rain 1 km after we started so we go no option but to proceed wink.gif

Wasted not much picture at that time as I am carrying a SLR.

I was extremely tired from doing Vietnam Mountain Marathon, could not even wear a shoe because all my toe nails are swollen.

I bought a fake Teva sandals and hike with it. The muddy part is a nightmare as mud goes between my soles, my feet start sliding between my shoe soles as well.

There's a cable car construction going on, the trail is badly damaged by the construction as it is a mud wonderland now.
The starting hike is very enjoyable, very scenic and cooling.

We have seen a triangle head, bright yellow/green snake too, freak the hell out of me as I am the first one to see it.
Lack of proper shoe is the main cause why I am so tired.

my toenails are killing me too.. thinking to get Teva sandals for relatively leisure hikes.. but since u mention the muds sweat.gif

last time what i did was wrap my toes as relief the swell, but sometimes the pain is too much i hv to resort for painkillers.
gosh i was even not dare to take off the socks scared my nails come out together laugh.gif

need a good shoe but clueless what to get. grip is an issue too. and it needs to be durable.

Correction:
Good fitting shoe, not just good shoe..

When you are strong and fit, having good footing and balance, shoe doesn't make a lot of differences.
WHen you are getting exhausted, shoe's support and sole grip is so important..

I got myself a Fake Teva (bought in Vietnam).. Able to run in Bukit Saga also haha.. but tho when you run too fast my soles start rubbing against the sole.. Definitely recommended for light hiking (NON MUDDY!!!)

3 of my toe nails just fall off.. Sort of used to it now

If the whole falls out right after (after severe pain), you will grew beautiful new toes.
Else you will get some half crook nails

Saga is easy, but good to train downhill confidences. You can pretty much do 70% if the downhills in Malaysia hills if you can do Saga.. Technicality it's quite steep just that other mountains is further in terms of distance

they regrow just fine too, i mean, nothing a good pedicure n buffering cant fix tongue.gif

i beg to differ on saga though.. mountain hiking in malaysia requires serious endurance n mental strength aside fr fitness alone.

btw i saw noticed ur siggy, u got brooks cascadia, thats a good hiking shoes, isnt it?

Indeed very good shoe, excellent grip..

Endurance and Mental strength can be easily train.. It's ok to have several mental breakdown when you do difficult hike, but knowing there's not easy return you will able to learn it.

Descending and ascending technique (landing / breathing) can be train in Saga
I haven't do any serious hike like Mt. Tahan la.. at most also I did Yong Belar and Batu Putih only

Cascadia was having 40% off last month.. I think it's a good but for RM200+

I can't remember batu putih much, our trip was rather relax.. 3 days 2 nights..
Hmm I only hate the fallen bamboo part, and also the merciless leeches all along the trail..

Steep is ok, just rest if you are tired.
It's not too technical IMO, you don't have to scramble.

Most of the Malaysian trail need some upper body strength too because you are expected to hold on to roots and branches.

I want to get a good trekking pole.. Any recommended?
Don't want to get carbon fibre because of my weight

yeah i hate fallen bamboo too. im tall n my pack is about my height too, so to duck under fallen trees/bamboo is a real torture man laugh.gif
holding on roots n branches occurs to me as fun because already been using the lower body all day long, good to alternate

sorry cant help it on the trekking pole.. i dont hv any. most of the times i take wood sticks as trekking pole.
disposable n cheap too biggrin.gif
