Wow, great thread! I'm wondering if anyone has been to bukit chenuang before? Any info? I'd like to try smile.gif i have so far done bukit saga, broga, ketumbar & mount kinabalu..

Me & my friend tried there once but because of didn't conduct our research well, we lost the path toward the mountain and ended up elsewhere laugh.gif From the blog I found http://thequantumsingularity.blogspot.com/...aten-track.html it seem bit challenging.

And the way in along Sungai Congkak is full of leeches.

It's situated around that area with Nuang, probably that's how it get the name? I have no idea, have to refer to the local there though. The other spoken to the ticket booth guy and according to him, that land belong to the native.

Leech sock & repellent? I have not try either one of those, so don't know how effective they are. During that day I have had leech climbed up until my thigh level as I was wearing short that day. laugh.gif
But overall, they are not all that scary, just that bit of itchy.

for me i wear long, double socks, long tights, as to minimize possible penetration by the leeches. works fine so far.
not to say 100% though because sometimes i got them at camp site where we no longer wear as many clothes like during trekking laugh.gif

I've been very lucky to not encounter any leeches before in my previous hikes sweat.gif So what to do when get leech bite? Leave them on? I heard it's painful to pull them off..

I suppose you are right about the parang, most likely is because that trail is less popular.
We just hop in randomly that day, without even heard of Chenuang before that. And we ask around is there a bukit or gunung for us to hike and according to the local there, there is one however somehow I can't find the way up & ended up at a farm with a native hut at the end of Congkak stretch. laugh.gif

That is the first time we actually encounter leeches too, throughout many of our journey.
It's not all that painful when we peel them off, actually it doesn't feel painful at all laugh.gif
Just that the wound feel itchy.
