One quick question: What are the differences between LCD for PC and LCD TV other than the usual higher resolution per size for PC? I mean are the technology behind the panels the same?

I just get the information from the supplier..that Acer H233H got two edition..Plasma editon(glossy) and lcd edition(non glossy)..which one is suggested and recommend?

Fyi Plasma != glossy. Lcd != matte screen

Plasma and Lcd can have matte and glossy editions. Though i don't see the point of having a power hungry plasma monitor, nor have I heard of any.

As to glossy vs matte, totally up to you. If you have window on the side, or some direct light source glowing on the screen, matte it is. If you like your room to be darker than black, get a glossy.

From my recent googling, i found the following:

1) P2370 is using special screen material ( refer to china local samsung website) else it will be the same spec as P2350. It has same viewing dimension as 2333sw. Its design is outstanding. It lack vesa mount

2) 2494HS is 0.6 inch bigger (minimum 6cm higher and 12cm longer than P2370). Other plus is that this lcd got hdmi. I am not sure whether it come with free hdmi cable but i doubt so. One catch is that it used Chimei panel according to some chinese forum but i think it is reliable info. Some ppl reported issues with the hdmi port on ps3. Some ppl said it can be used on 120hz setting.

Both 1) and 2) are similar in price point. Go for P2370 if u willing to trade design&quality for extra 0.6 inch. Both of them are better spec/space than 2333sw.

3) Acer H233H. For me, its exterior design is on par with 2333sw. It has price tag below RM700 and come with free hdmi cable. The glossy screen type ( not sure if there is really two type in market) really made movie look goods if u can negate the reflection. However, ppl negative impression about acer brand and service still made me worry abit about post-purchase trouble.hehe

Just a fyi, both models are 24" 16:9. Going from a 16:10 22" to a 16:9 24" means your 22" would be stretched with about the same height.

just now i went to ALL IT lowyat kl. They have display samsung 2333sw, P2350, P2370, H2494HS, Acer H233H glossy, viewsonic 22 inch, AOC 24 inch. From my oppinion, 2333sw seems to display better graphic among all, AOC the colour is very fake, viewsonic is ok, and ACER the glossy makes me a bit head spin when looking at the movement of graphic in a movie.

what u mean by display better graphic? only apply to still image or movie? u sure the setting are around the same? coz from spec, 2333sw seem to have the lowest contrast ratio (if those ratio really mean a thing ;p)..P2370 didnt shine? it seem to have the best screen material..

to bad from my town, i couldnt find dealer that display all of them side by side..

btw, does 2494HS come with a free hdmi cable?

I guess it is hard to judge many monitor at once, since all the monitor were connect to a Video Demultiplizer. All monitor were using same resolution & any display setting in Windows.

Does anyone know the difference between Samsung 2033sw and 2043sw? Both are priced similarly. I tried doing some research but couldn't find any solid info since most sites containing info about 2043sw are Japanese sites, probably suggesting that it's a model marketed for the Asian market?

Which of the two models is the superior lcd? Many thanks.

They should be using the same panel, just different size. I mean, if I am the manufacturer, I'll do this to save cost.

I got a free hdmi cable with the 2494hs.

pretty good monitor. desk is neater as it has built in speakers (less cable clutter). speakers are pretty small but usable. picture/sharpness/contrast is ok. plenty of inputs including dvi and hdmi. case has samsung's new look matte finish. only other downside is that it's a 16:9 monitor not 16:10. I prefer 16:10 as it's better for work (taller for reading documents).
