Insurance policies only cover up to 90% ~ 95% of your car cost and it takes minimal 3 months before the insurance company compensate you.
During this 3 months you still have to pay your monthly installement for the stolen car.
After which, you use that insurance money to pay off the bank and the remaining, if any - goes to your new car.
A replacement City will still a waiting period of at least 1 ~ 3 months unless you make a booking within the month of your car being stolen.
Do the math - if the car gets stolen, which is more expensive? Getting a new car or paying for Captor? Don't forget, the insurance does not cover PPS, car tint or whatever modifications you have done. If the car gets stolen, I think even after insurance - you stand to lose at least a minimal of another 9k. With Captor, the system is transferrable so the cost becomes a one time deal (excluding installation charges) on top of however long you decide to subscribe to the service - and for all intents and purposes, 1 year is usually more than enough!
Of course, having Captor isn't 100% failsafe, but it's has a 90% recovery rate as compared to 0% recovery within 1 day... unless the person has so suay luck then nothing much to say about thatÂ

I agree with what you say, but for what that was said and done.. alot of it is in "hindsight" and alot of "ifs"
"What if you don't spend that money only Captor, and your car gets stolen".. or "What if you spent that money on Captor on ur car and it doesn't get stolen" or "what if you pay for a year, and damn suay the next day after subscription over kena stolen"
I guess at the end of the day.. it boils down to how much you are willing to spend on your car for that extra piece of mind.
I wouldn't mind having all the gadgets in the world, but since I prolly can't afford it.. well, you've gotta go for the next best.
Or lower your risk by parking in covered, brightly lit & secured car park, and try not to work so late..hehe!

(i think this is the best preventive measure)
edit: Just checked out Captor's website. RM2,100 (System) + RM200 (Installation) = RM2,300 (1st year free subscription) + RM150 (annual fee).
Doesn't look too shabby as what zweimmk pointed out. But too bad I don't have that amount of cash allocated for that.. still wanna mod my car..hehe! Maybe I'll get some lugnuts then chain my car to a tree.. jk

P/s: Just to note that the "Recovery rates of vehicles protected with this system show 40% faster recovery and a 95% success rate" is for the Captor RF/GPS which cost as astounding RM4,000 (system) + RM300 (installation) + RM48 or RM98 (monthly charges). Your choice
