As promised, here's my tip for audio on your W995. Your phone has amazing accoustics, but you can't find it in any of the preset equalizers which sound quite distasteful to audiophiles. Great sound is perfectly hidden in the manual equalizers, here are 2 that I can share with other W995 owners. Both settings play all genres quite well but EQ1 is better for R&B and EQ2 is better for Rock numbers. Clear Bass can be set at 1 or 2 bars according to your desire but I don't recommend 3 bars, too bassy for me. Enjoy!

Your Walkman Player looks yummy. But unless someone can give me W960 Walkman interface (repeat 1 track only function, IDTag viewer etc) or Walkman 4.0, then I'm just happy with what I currently have As for GPS, afaik if you don't preload your maps then it'll download the maps as you go and this is where data charges will incur. I think preloaded maps do need subscription, correct me if I'm wrong. But if you have unlimited data plan then it's absolutely free |

QUOTE(coughargh @ Nov 3 2009, 02:07 PM) How do I use w995 as mass storage device or access memory card through cable to pc? I connect the phone through cable to my office pc (without admin right), it detected but in the drive is empty inside. Before w995, I use my w800i as camera in office a lot, now this is new phone but default cannot work as mass storage device. how to access my memory card through pc? Can wan, relax, relax. Go to settings, connectivity, usb, set default mode, then choose 'file transfer' |

QUOTE(coughargh @ Nov 3 2009, 06:12 PM) thanks for help What? You don't need to restart lor, that's plain crazy. Like I said, follow those steps and you'll be able to connect. It wasn't like this with the last firmware which, I assure you, was more advanced than your ancient W800 (which happens to be my wife's phone too ancient w800i can access mass storage almost instantly without any hussle, but this w995 need restart and limited function bla bla ... newer != better. |

QUOTE(Pennywise @ Nov 4 2009, 01:16 AM) We bought a black W995 in end of Sept and realized something later. 1. That's normal, it's the backlight transitions for standby. I like the Walkman transition 1. When left idle, the brightness of the screen and keypad of the phone goes dim and eventually the light turns off. This is normal right? The keypad usually gets blackout first before the screen? Sort of energy saving feature? 2. When speaking on LoudSpeaker mode, I noticed the phone line gets cut, I cannot confirm this yet but it has happened a few times. Did anyone encounter this? 3. When speaking on LoudSpeaker mode, with Ring volume set at 5, I hear massive echo. Is something wrong with my speaker? Please advise. Thank you. 2. Shouldn't drop call while using loudspeaker, never happened to me so probably your network provider 3. Interesting. I'll check it out once I get the chance and report back |

You got your target, don't lose sight of it, W995 is a real pleasure to have @knuckleballer Hikaru was W995's pre-production codename, just like Idou before Satio @C-Note C905 has Xenon and a better cam sensor which makes it a better point and shoot cam. But if you look at some of my many photo samples a few pages back, W995 also has an excellent camera if you play with the cam settings. Review sites give poor ratings because 1. Some base their tests on pre-retail units which is different than retail ones 2. They can only be bothered to use full auto settings as a benchmark test for all phones whereby W995's potential lies in the manual settings. If tinkering with the settings is not your cup of tea then C905 is a better choice for you camera-wise. Media-wise it trumps C905 in video playback and of course audio clarity. Media plays fast and smooth, with a very responsive auto-rotate. The 3.5mm audio jack is really a welcome addition. The kickstand and stereo speakers enhance viewing pleasure. If you use GPS, the receiver is more powerful than C905 and locks your position within seconds. Ergonomically thin and nice to hold though I prefer the feel of C905 in this dept. And it's also worth mentioning unlike C905, W995 doesn't support TV-Out. Well, hope that helps |

I've used smaller volume rocker comfortably. The comfort part is not due to the size but rather its position (similar to C902 near cam shutter button) which enhances photo taking but sacrifices music experience when you wanna control the volume, say, from your pocket since it's too crammed with the other buttons. Otherwise, no problemo for me

QUOTE(DreMAx @ Nov 12 2009, 04:10 PM) Normally price here in LYN is a little lower during the festive seasons. Watch out for the Christmas. I am sure prices are going down then. Charged, yes unless you use wifi which unfortunately won't follow you around where you're going. It would be free if you pre-load the map first (download at home with wifi to avoid real time data charges ie. map downloading by the GPS while on the move) but for the bundled app. (Wayfinder Navigator) you need to subscribe to be able to pre-load maps if I'm not mistaken. And make sure you disable aGPS because the assisted position lock in by your network provider will incur data charges too. I think GPS should be charged right? Any users here can confirm that? |

QUOTE(jepertine90 @ Jan 6 2010, 05:23 PM) Dunno what Olympus model since it's not my cam, I grabbed the photo from my friend's site. If I didn't mention which photo is taken by which cam surely people would say the W995 photo is the digicam one. Linux? You mean Lumix right? Yes, definitely Lumix is better than W995, it's arguably the best point and shoot compact cam in the market beating other imaging heavyweights like Canon etc. I'll post some Canon Ixus 10mp vs W995 comparison shot when I have the time @skyliner66 Sorry, unfortunately it doesn't have Garmin support yet, one day probably. Wisepilot is the closest there is to Garmin that's compatible |

QUOTE(nomadic @ Jan 8 2010, 05:16 AM) hmm its totally cannot install Garmin software as i known No lar boss, not just google maps, there are quite a number of other compatible location services apps for W995 ie. Wayfider navigator, Wisepilot, MGMaps etc. All with abilility to preload maps (and save cost) like Garmin but perhaps the maps are not as comprehensive thoughit only can use the goggle map la if you want to install Garmin you can choose X1 or SATIO mah |
