Mine is AP, not a single problem to this day, slider is very solid, no signs of fading for the writings on the phone, very, very stable, cant ask for more, dropped it so many times on smooth, hard, rough (road asphalt summore) surface and the marks are still unnoticeable. When buying just make sure you hold the phone and play around with it a bit so that you know exactly what you're getting My 16GB M2 doesn't lag at all. What else can I say, sugar and spice everything nice. If I say anything more you'd think I'm selling the darned phone

New firmware R1HA036 is out. Noticeable improvements (and bug fixes) include faster text input, stronger wifi signal and album art in the albums list. Get it now!

You can't download it like a mod or patch. Go to the SE website and download the Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS). Install it, follow the instruction and you'll do fine

I'm aware of that lar, I've done it before myself to switch back to an earlier firmware, but let's not confuse the kid and let him do it the conventional way first or it could get really confusing for the fella

1) Yes, it does have an expiry date, but when I'm prompted to key in the activation code, I skip it and it runs just fine, still don't understand what that's about

2) Same thing, there's difference between W995i (International) and W995a (America) though, but that wouldn't concern us.

3) If you purchased your phone on a Plan with your mobile network say, Vodafone, they'd lock it so that you can only use it with their network and usually when it's locked, they put in their own firmware/software which, most of the time, is buggy/unstable. So people unlock because a) to use with another network b) for a more stable firmware c) freedom to mod among other reasons

Thanks, you can make screenshots with MyPhoneExplorer http://www.fjsoft.at/download.php?id=1. The last few versions support screenshot function. It's also the easier way to backup your stuff too, much, much easier and faster than SE's crappy PC Suite software once you know how to use it

Well, I think we can have and improve on software, skill, environment, creativity etc. but if you get the wrong hardware (sensor, lens) in the first place, none of it matters as it limits your phone's capability

Did you manage to get the widget like blacklizard90 mentioned? If you can't you need to flash your phone with the .bin file with A2Uploader

Well, originally I couldn't find the jad/jar files since none could be extracted from a CID53 phone, only by generating a .bin file (by using CodeClaw DB3210 CID53 File Xtractor 2.0) I would be able to flash it to my W995 with A2U. Got the .bin files from here

Nope, not Jock's extractor, CodeClaw is the one I know. Mine is RED cert and no one I knew could help me extract since theirs were RED as well and were not willing to pay to convert so flashing the .bin file was a brilliant solution at the time

No you don't have to convert if you can obtain the original files first before modding/replacing them just in case you want to revert back the stock files. The thing about RED cert is, you can write files on your phone but you can't read them meaning you can't copy/move files FROM the phone but you can do that TO the phone. So it's pretty much a one way thing with RED certs

I'm sure blacklizard has lots of those modding links

My kickstand still locks in position and the chrome is not a shade duller than 1/2 a year ago when I first bought it, will post some pictures of the phone when I have the time
