Tried the sony ericsson w995's default browser and opera mini, both stream youtube vid (low quality) smoothly. My only complaint is that the vid quality is not as bad-ass as viewing it on my desktop biggrin.gif , but perfect if i just wanna watch some failblog vid on-the-go smile.gif

I even tried on my Uni's public wifi, stream just nice laugh.gif

PS: it uses mobile youtube, not the usual youtube site.

The default Youtube app gives better quality viewing than the mobile version. But actually you can watch Youtube from the full site if you install Bolt browser. You can google it up and have a try smile.gif

Actually there's no need to tamper with any of the wifi settings as they are fully auto and hassle-free. But just in case here are some settings you should set it to in case they're different than what they should be.

Security settings: Open or Open WEP (depends, if public wifi choose previous, home choose the latter)

Network Sharing: Off

Subnet Mask:
255.255.255.255

Proxy Settings: Off

If you still can't connect with these settings try to flash it for the latest firmware and if there's nothing wrong with your network and it still won't work, exchange your phone nod.gif

Taken with W995

@Blacklizard
W902 was the first of the Cybershot-Walkman hybrid, W995 is the second http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_w995-review-329.php
I've had both and W902-C902 cam quality is identical, W995 really loses out to C905 in terms Xenon but only slightly in terms of detail and noise suppression. In other words, SE made sure W995 wouldn't be as good. W995 wins in the video clarity department though, with a bitrate of ~800kbps

Yes, I used the application. Its black from the starting of the video till end. No sound also

Something tells me your settings are all screwed up. I'd say the most probable solution is a reflash, and then use setup wizard to download your internet settings, 100% fool proof wink.gif

@evolution120
The helicopter photo is original but of course, it has been resized, you can't fit an 8mp linked photo in here.

Here are some shots from yesterday wink.gif

It's all about knowing the phone and seizing the moment wink.gif I shot the first photo while stopping at the traffic light, you can actually see the red light on the extreme right lol. This is why I prefer a good camphone to DSLRs, I bring my phone everywhere I go so better chance to shoot cool stuff biggrin.gif

wow interesting ~
can i ask ><
W595 can set this setting ?
TQ

What blacklizard said is right. W595 hardware is very different than W995. Unfortunately no amount of software modding or tinkering with the settings can make them similar. Plus, W995 was a multimedia flagship so it's been blessed with a good cam module wink.gif But you can still experiment with your W595 like I do to get the best out of it and results might surprise you nod.gif

Yes and no. Yes if it's refering to digital zoom, the standard yet useless 16x. No if you're refering to optical zoom which only a handful of existing phones sport wink.gif

Tomorrow want to go back to the shop and ask them to tighten the slide...feels so uncomfortable hearing the "pak pak" sound when the slide is opened pressing the Dpad.
*
Sometimes I wonder, am I the only person with a W995 that has a solid slider? I've used it for 1/2 a year still solid, no peeling (eventhough I drop it so many times before, some on the road summore), kickstand still firm. hmm.gif Anyone else who thinks his/her W995 is as solid?

guys, how well is w995 flash? can take good picture in dark condition? like in night time..
*
Here's an example of a simple night shot from W995 straight out of the phone.

Actually, for scenes like this Xenon would be ineffective since Xenon flash is only effective 5-7m away. Xenon would be useful for indoor shots with a lot of movement like in a party or something. Otherwise, it's all down to the camera sensor, camera post-processing and user handling wink.gif

C905 definitely better, you just gotta know how to use it wink.gif If you have shaky hands 1. lower EV value 2. use document mode. The picture will be really dark but you can brighten with built in photo editor and it won't be blurry. It's better if you can have steady hands, then you don't have to worry about the settings and use full auto happy.gif

In camera mode, the d-pad can be used to adjust EV (exposure value) by pressing left or right. The value is represented from -2.0, -1.7, -1.3, -1.0, -0.7, -0.3, 0.0, +0.3, +0.7, +1.0, +1.3, +1.7 to +2.0

Enlightening info though, thanks for sharing wink.gif

@evolution120
No problems, so far most stable flagship device from SE. Some have quality issues like slider, peeling etc but doesn't effect performance ;-) I don't have any of these issues though

w995 have strap hole or not???
*
Heheh you guys ask the darndest things lah. No, it doesn't have a strap hole probably because it feels solid and heavy eventhough it's small, so it might feel a bit awkward wearing a heavy thing on your neck. Would be nice to have though if it is used as a camera strap.

@yeechong
You can eject it from the icon tray just like you would any usb mass storage device, even in PC mode. If it's not there, it's probably due to an error on Windows' part or maybe you can try reinstall the driver again

what the difference between R1GA028 and R1HA035?
mine is R1HA035.
*
R1HA035 has improvements like:
1. Album Art (which has always been supported but was lost in R1GA028 due to a bug)
2. Stronger Wifi signal
3. Manual equalizer memory (actually not too sure this feature was introduced in the previous fw or the latest)
4. Softer hangup tone which was deafening if using handsfree
5. More responsive typing input

From my experience and some other users the media update problem will be solved if you don't use the supplied m2 memory card. I use a 16gb sandisk m2 card with R1GA035 and media update takes just about 2 minutes or so, so I'd say it's the card as it has something to do with the card density or something. wink.gif

Definitely not normal when you have a lag after switching off wifi. Probably has something to do with the browser instead? Wondering as well if anyone else has this problem. Btw, ouchh alister88, I feel your pain. Dropped mine on the road twice! Once while hurrying to help a blind man cross the road, why God, why?? Lol

Whoa...where is this? Nice shot smile.gif

@iLoveChicks
1. I love chicks too LOL
2. Can't really define "problem", some complain for the slightest wobble, others complain about lagging, camera not good enough etc. I don't have that problem so it's very subjective, depends on what phone you're using before, your preference and luck wink.gif
3. Cheapest you can find on eBay but very dangerous unless you know a trusted seller. Cheapest I know for AP is Mobile care Stop in Subang at RM1018 but dunno the credibility hmm.gif

what u guys comment on d wifi function?

it seems like not much option for surfing with wifi because when lost connection on wifi, it will auto switch to 3g.. any idea to prevent this?

i still no idea for the setting. it seems like must have a 3g setting there. wifi is conside as -> local connection?
*
Never happened to me as I've never lost connection yet so far but...

Things you can consider:

1. Connect to Wifi in Flight Mode. 100% confirm no switching to 3G
2. Delete your 3G profile in Internet Settings
3. Switch to "GSM Only" at Mobile Networks. GPRS data is slow so it would not incur too much cost if it automatically switches to data from wifi by the time you realize it.

There may be other ways I don't know of, but these are my suggestions for now
