just bought the red w995 yesterday at rm985. some shop eve sell it for rm950. thanks to the very high resolution picture, at lower size the picture will be very sharp and crisp but totally unacceptable (for me) if viewing it in 1:1 size. well its not like that i have a monitor with 3000pixel. so the picture will be fine as long as you are viewing it in appropriate size.
*
Very few mobile photos with 5mp and above looks pretty at 1:1, even more so without adequate lighting. W995 looks good at 1:1 only for macro shots. Try taking photos with your W995 of other scenes at 2mp resolution, you'll see 1:1 looks good wink.gif That's why the megapixel race is a waste of time with tiny cam phone sensors doh.gif

@asfiezul
Sorry, my modding days are over and I don't know where the resources are for those files, by you can try SE-NSE or Esato forums, chances are you'll get what you need there wink.gif

@Andrew
Thanks, I personally like the colourful duck, it looks so cute and different that Donald :lol It may surprise you that KL has the biggest covered bird park in the world ;-)

@Calex
Depends on your CDA. APAC-NZ CDA should have Chinese characters. Your slider needs to be tightened. I've owned mine for 9 months now, thank God my slider still solid thumbup.gif

@kouri26
If you can't receive bluetooth files then the sender must be using iPhone laugh.gif You should be able to receive from any other phone/computer. As for video support, it only supports mp4 and 3gp but your phone comes with Media Go software which is a free app that converts other video formats and transfer them to your phone with the correct resolution and quality smile.gif

hi all.. has been using this phone for about 2 month ++.. my problem so far..

loose slider,
charge port loose (wobble up and down),
*my wayfinder cant load. dunno what happen.

how to reinstall? help me..
*
1. Wobbly slider can be tightened if sent for service

2. Never heard of loose fastport connector but I'm sure sending it for service would fix it. Frankly, I would suspect something's amiss with your seller.

3. You can reinstall Wayfinder Navigator by reinstalling/updating your firmware. You can do that via SEUS as mentioned by Andrew.

Good luck smile.gif

hey i bought the phone , but when my friend tried to send me pictures and musics through bluetooth they say they could find my phone name but theres a passcode needed ?? anyway to fix it ? btw my friend's phone model is nokia 3230 . any idea guys ?
*
The passcode is a standard security feature for any phone. Just type any number (eg. 1234 or 0000 or 250410, anything at all) and your friend has to type the same passcode on his phone to start the pairing, that's all. Now you can bluetooth away. Alternatively, after pairing you can add your friends device in the Bluetooth 'my devices' list, then scroll on your friend's phone in the list, select option--->allow connection--->select 'always allow'. Now you won't need to enter passcode everytime your friend bluetooth something to you. It's just settings, no need to reflash firmware unless you don't have the latest one. Anyway, congrats on your new phone smile.gif

Guys , the Globe icon spinning at top of the phone means is using the mobile internet right ? ( which costs u ) how do i disable it so that i could only connect to internet using wifi?? O.O
*
Once you're connected to Wifi it data connection should stop by itself, make sure you connect to Wifi first if you don't want data charges to incur.

Added on May 1, 2010, 2:08 pm@the golden sukuk

HPM-88 is only offered in selected EU countries, ie. Sweden etc. It costs more there with HPM-88, USB reader and a few other extras doh.gif

QUOTE(Feinberg1 @ Apr 29 2010, 01:26 AM)
hi all expert here. i just got my new w995 ap, at RM 1000

i got a few questions regarding this phone, hope you all able to help me out.

1) how can i disable aGPS ? as i heard aGPS cost you more.
*
-aGPS uses cell tower network to triangulate your location so it locks your position in faster but uses your network data. Explore the the settings in the location services menu to disable it.

QUOTE
2) am i able to pre-load Google map ? to reduce my data charge incurred.

-That's not possible on any phone. You can't pre-load Google Maps AFAIK

QUOTE
3) does this phone save my browser data just as my computer do ? ( temporary internet files )
if yes, where can i clear them ? need to clean it after some time using.

-Yes, clean the cache in your browser settings

QUOTE
4) is there any shortcut to access my camera and start taking photo ? because im using k618i previously, and what i do is just need to unlock phone, press the camera button beside the phone then can start take picture.

-That's exactly how you do it in the W995 as well unless you're in the menu or on some application. Then press the hangup phone button to get out of the app/menu then press the camera shutter button.

QUOTE
5) the w995 firmware is currently R024 ?? should i update it ? i ask the seller and the seller said no need update.

-Latest firmware for APAC-ANZ CID is R1HA036/R1HA035

QUOTE
6) i've try to took some picture with the flash on. (during night time, inside my house with lights on ), but what picture i get is even darker than the picture i took without flash, how come ? my skills problem or setting problem ?

-That's because usually with flash, shutter speed is faster therefore letting less light in thus making it darker. To solve this when it occurs, just increase the EV value with your D-pad so that it becomes brighter. Alternatively, after taking a dark photo you can use the built-in Edit in PhotoDJ option and use 'Brightness' to brighten your photos which usually comes out better than PhotoFix.

QUOTE
7) how to check my imei number ? through web ? just wanna know whether my phone is recon / just new ap set

-Like any phone dial *#06# to access your IMEI info

QUOTE
8) what is CID ? i heard some lowyat forumer mention about it, related with flashing / phone software upgrading. i just trying to learn more about it.

-CID is your regional code, for Malaysia (and countries within Asia Pacific region) and Australia/New Zealand it's APAC-ANZ. Other regional codes may receive firmware updates with slightly varying features than your local one

QUOTE
Thanks everyone to able to help me out answer those noob questions.
Appreciate your help.
No worries wink.gif

Do you know the difference between CID and CDA?

CID is security features - DB3210  have 0,49,52,53

CDA is the regional code
There is no varying features, its only have different languages and Custom pack
*
LOL, the slip up police is here again. Yes my bad, a slip up, I'm sure you know I know what CDA is we discussed about APAC-ANZ 1 page ago. This is what happens when you answer right out of bed doh.gif

I have absolutely no idea what your problem is about, but sounds like MiWorld is a widget. If so then your CDA probably isn't local. A fw reflash might get rid of it if it's local and was miworld was flashed by your vendor. Now, let's wait for the slip up police to bust in here and shoot me. Want to be police, so cute LOL

Few reflash won't solve the thing. Whenever you reflash with SEUS(as you din mention), you will get the same CDA. Nothing changed.
*
I said reflash to see if it could get rid of the MiWorld thing, not change CDA lor brader doh.gif

using this phone only for 6 month.. already got problem with the charging port.. already sent one time for repair.. after 3 week, spoil again.. haiyaa.. need to resend back..
*
All SE phones got the stupid fastport problem. Don't send it for repair, save your money. The solution is simple, get a clean, dry toothbrush and brush the dirty fastport pins. Voila, problem gone. Certified SE service center repair guy taught me this trick, try it and you'll see wink.gif

The latest one is the most stable. In fact, the phone is already really stable out of the box a far as I can remember, the most stable phone I've ever owned after my current X10 thumbup.gif
