siaulang, read the first post by bryanyeo to get a complete description of it. It basically allows users to run third-party applications on their iPod Touch units. You can use your own custom themes (Winterboard), use SSH to manage your files on your iPod Touch, and many more cool stuff that cannot be done on a non-jailbroken iPod Touch.

Check the first post for an "in-depth" explanation of it.

QuickFreedom is out already?

Yup, your stuff would be safe. Nothing will be deleted from what i've read about it so far.

I'm not sure too. But i think we would not need to fully restore our units so our apps etc would still be there. It'll be better to just wait for bryanyeo's answer tongue.gif

I didn't install icy, mainly because it's not capable of providing users with a preview of the app they're about to download. I preview nearly every app before i download it. So yea, but it definitely looks sleeker.

elfreakz, using winterboard, yes you can. Just check the theme if you want it, and uncheck it if you don't want it.

Oh yea, there is a thread just for WinterBoard and customization (iPhone section), it would be best to ask these sort of questions in there instead of in here. tongue.gif

bryanyeo, i just tested it (the main page of it), and it's really awesome. Really simple to use, and yea, it's pretty much as good as QuickFreedom, or maybe even better i should say. It's just a little unresponsive at times where the Mac loading circle would pop up, but other than that, it's pretty neatly done.

It also has a DFU mode counter similar to the one on QuickFreedom, but it's much easier to follow the counter on Untetherizer.

Oh yea, when attempting to close a menu etc, it lags a bit.

Hope that helps mate.

Hey davidgary73 and bryanyeo, i looked around the ipodtouch fans forums, and i found a post by Jaikob giving a small tutorial on how to use his Untetherizer Tool. Here it is :

QUOTE
1. Install the libpng package.
2. Download the original 2.2.1 2G firmware.
3. Move it to the desktop and name it "firmware.ipsw"
4. Open Untetherizer V2.
5. Click Generate Pwned Firmware.
6. Wait for terminal to close.
7. Start the DFU pre-boot.
8. Put your ipod into DFU with the counter.
9. Then start the preboot process.
10. Once your ipod is in DFU, open itunes, and "Option + Click" The Restore button in itunes, and open Desktop/UntetherizedFirmware.ipsw.

This is a basic 10 step tutorial. More advanced options can be used of course.

If you're about to post it in the front page, it would be best to highlight the "install libPNG" step as it's pretty important.

Did you use any categorizing apps?

If no, just go back to your iTunes store, and redownload them. It would allow you to do so for free since you paid for them earlier.

Or maybe, you can try rebooting.

Cydia. It's really nice as you can even choose your preferred icons and names for each "folder" you create. I currently have two, Games and Applications. smile.gif
