ok... if something happened to my ipod touch v 2.0 after jail break... how about my warranty? how to solve it?

anyone can explain it to me?
*
You can restore your iPod Touch to the original firmware, then just send it to apple if you have any problems. No need to worry about your warranty, it'll still be valid.

Open categories, select "Add" at the top right corner, insert the name, choose an icon and done. It's created! smile.gif

Next, open the new category that you just created, select add and start adding your apps. smile.gif

Go to Cydia, then search for "categories". Install it. Once done doing so, follow my instructions above
on how to create a new category. smile.gif

Yes. If the icon isn't present, and if you have SBSettings installed, open it, and unhide "Categories".

JayChua, you can't really brick your iPod Touch. If anything goes wrong during the firmware updating process, all you need to do is to boot your unit into DFU mode, and you would be able to restore your firmware. It's safe really.

Ok first I apologize if I am repeating something someone else had asked. There's just so much to digest here.

1) Now I have apps in my IT2G unbroken one. So if I finally decide to JB, I make a backup with iTunes, then follow the instructions on first page to JB, then restore my backup onto my IT2G (is the restore done with itunes also?). - This means a JB 2G touch with all my previous apps and savedate+score, etc ?

2) About Cydia. Is the apps from Cydia installed through the touch is by Wifi? Cannot like what's done with iTunes where I download all the apps I want with PC then sync to the touch? Also, is Cydia and installer is different "app" for the touch too?

3) Last. So if I wanna go back, I have to go DFU (the Power+Home 10 sec, then Home few more sec thing), restore my Firmware, restore my apps with backup through Itunes.

I wanted a nicer organizing pane for my apps (all legal) and its main reason I wanna try JB. Hope you guys can clarify before I make my leap. tongue.gif

1) Yes, after jailbreaking your unit, you can always restore your backup which would restore all your settings, savedata etc. Your apps would not be restored. You would have to re-sync them back. Not a problem at all smile.gif

2) Yes, Cydia works pretty much like the app store. It's a little slow, but the content that it provides is really good. You can download stuff like themes and all, and then you can SSH it to your iPod Touch.

3) Yup, if you wish to revert to the original firmware, just select restore when you're in DFU mode.

You can use "Categories" from Cydia to categorize all your applications. smile.gif

I c i c. But Cydia is on the touch or on the PC? Is there a website I can visit?
*
Cydia is for the iPod Touch mate. Once you've jailbroken your iPod Touch, a new application called Cydia would be added to your springboard. With it, you would be able to add repo's and download various tools and themes to make your iPod Touch even better than it already is. smile.gif

Ok thanks a million guys! So wifi is a must lah.. Man, it sucks setting up my laptop to share LAN internet to wifi.

I heard installing app tat is for iphone into an ipod touch will crash the ipod, izzit true? So must be careful and read the fine lines then.

Thanks and cheers.
*
Yup, the iPod Touch would be pretty useless without a wi-fi connection.

Well, most apps in the app store are iPod Touch/iPhone compatible, so it won't really be a problem. It's just some games which uses the mic and all, but other than that, it's cool.

*
Emulators are totally legal, but file images like the .bios file and the roms( .nes, .gba , .gbc etc) aren't. I've got both those emulators as well. Mario on my iPod is lulz tongue.gif

Yup, Cydia.

ooh bryanyeo, i never knew that distributing patched .ipsw files was illegal. Is that the reason why patched ipsw's are not uploaded to hosting sites for users to download? I mean, there are some, but you get the point. tongue.gif

hmm i try to use quickpwn to jailbreak but when i reach till at restoring part...choose the custom firmware and then wait for something in itunes writting preparing ipod for restore...i waited for so damn long....is this normal?
*
Hmm, that has never happened to me before. Try waiting a bit longer, if there's no apparent change, then i'd say do a fresh new restore. Don't do that yet though, wait for bryanyeo or someone else to provide a definite answer. smile.gif

Nope, it won't brick your iPod Touch or harm it in any other manner. If anything goes out of plan, then you just have to boot it to DFU mode, and perform a fresh new restore.

It's simple. Do this : Hold the "Home" and the "Power/Sleep" button for 10s (Try to be accurate on this), then release the "Power/Sleep" and continue holding the "Home" button until iTunes detects your iPod Touch in DFU mode.

Read the following link to get a better view on how to do this. Images are included as well.

where to dl cydia??
*
You can use QuickFreedom and it would work just fine. You need to do some extra steps before installing LibUSB though. Check the first post, bryanyeo has included a guide there.

No, you don't download Cydia. When you restore your custom firmware, Cydia and Installer (If you selected it before creating the customfirmware.ipsw file), would be set to the icon list by default. smile.gif

#BOOTING JAILBROKEN IPOD TOUCh 2ND GEN#

That should help you i think. Also, why are you still using the tethered jailbreak? Fully jailbreak it using QuickFreedom or any other GUI tool that appeals to you. smile.gif

Ok thanks for the guide, i have jailbroke(Quick2gPwner) my ipod touch 2G on a mac OS X last night.

Can i resync to my itunes on my MAC after jailbreak to restore apps i downloaded earlier?

If not, how do I backup my ipod from now on?
*
Yeap, you can, and in fact, should do so.

Just restore all the previous settings if you want them, then just sync back all your apps and other content. No hassle at all smile.gif
