really? then its better lah.. coz what i want actually to reset the grace period only... i dont care about credit validity as i dont use the simcard anymore, just keep it because it my first number in my life (sentimental value lol)

yalor... credit transfer cannot make the line active as of for long but just 1-3days only...

btw, u said u reload rm3... is there such reload? just rm3 only?

wink.gif
*
reload rm3 is available with maybank mobile financial service.. i use this service before (before im using postpaid) in case of emergency need to buy topup, just send sms to gateway (free of charge) then received the credit. celcom will deduct the ammount from my maybank account automatically.. the validity for rm3 is 3 days..

rm3 is the minimum reload provided, u can also reload rm4, 5, 6, 7 and so on till rm50. the validity is the same as physical reload card.

so it very convinient. no need to find reload shop anymore.. and very usefull during emergency. but now not actively using at because im using postpaid now, just use it sometime for my UOX and my old XPAX.

of course, celcom also showing some decline, but not as much as maxis decline.. and celcom is net addition (the number of port out is less than number of port in to celcom, while at maxis the situation is otherwise ) just see the following comparison (but this is comparison between digi and celcom, not maxis.. because maxis is private company, they never reveal how much is their losses haha)

Celcom vs DiGi Q1 2009

Last week, Celcom announced its first quarter performance to the local media. Not surprisingly, the company posted its 12th consecutive quarterly growth.

Overall, Celcom appears to have the edge over rivals DiGi and is positioning itself as a Strong Number 2 player.

First quarter results also has a few "highlights":
1. A record 183,000 new postpaid net adds.
2. Mobile broadband subscribers exceeded 300,000 mark.

Ok. Let's look at how these two have performed.

REVENUE
Celcom: RM1.47 billion, up 0.3 per cent QoQ, up 9.7 per cent YoY.
DiGi: RM1.22 billion, down 1.1 per cent QoQ, up 4 per cent YoY.

SUBSCRIBER BASE
Celcom: 9.17 million, up 4.7 per cent (415,000) QoQ. Postpaid user rose 10.4 per cent to 1.94 million, while Prepaid user rose 3.3 per cent to 7.22 million.

DiGi: 7.15 million, up by 1.3 per cent (93,000) QoQ. Postpaid user rose 6 per cent to 1.16 million, while Prepaid user rose 0.5 per cent to 5.99 million.

ARPU (Average revenue per user)
Celcom: Postpaid ARPU at RM101, down from RM104 in fourth quarter. Prepaid ARPU at RM41, down by 8.7 per cent from RM45 in Q4 last year. Blended ARPU down by 5.4 per cent QoQ to RM54.

DiGi: Postpaid ARPU fell by 4.5 per cent to RM84 (from RM88 in fourth quarter 2008), Prepaid ARPU fell by 3.8 per cent to RM50 (RM52 in Q409) and Blended ARPU dropped by 3.4 per cent to RM56 (from RM58)

EBITDA/ EBITDA Margin
Celcom: RM664 million, flat growth. Ebitda margin fell to 45 per cent, from 45.1 per cent in fourth quarter 2008.

DiGi: RM544 million, grew by 1.4 per cent. Ebitda margin expanded to 44.6 per cent from 43.5 per cent.

NET PROFIT
Celcom: rose by 6.3 per cent QoQ to RM357 million.
DiGi: fell by 2.3 per cent QoQ to RM275 million.

Main concerns moving forward:

According to industry sources, about 15-30 per cent of DiGi's prepaid customer base are foreign workers. If it is true, this could impact DiGi's earnings for the remaining quarters as the slowing economy would translate into less jobs for these foreign workers. (less jobs= less phone calls made; less activities = more foreign workers to be sent home)

As for Celcom, key question now is, how it plans to attack the Central division. It reintroduced a new Xpax few weeks ago.

celcom manage to get 183k postpaid subscribers net addition within just 3 month.. for your info, this is the highest net addition for pospaid ever in company history in any quarter. the only thing celcom need to focus is in the red highlight..

Yes. I heard about the D50 plan. Subscription before May 2009 entitles one to enjoy the 3.5G speed (HSDPA) at RM50. After which one gets to enjoy RM50 for the 3G speed. I got this information when I went to subscribe the plan a few days back.

This is recorded when DiGi still doesn't provide the 3G services mobile. When DiGi kicks out the 3G service, I am sure more people will be flocking in.. (fingers crossed)

yes, 3G service is one of the factors.. but i dont think it will give major impact. the other factor/reason is mainly because of their coverage. (my personal opinion)

actually, we see this trend since late 2007 and 2008 when suddenly Celcom showing a lot of improvement, and also for the first time they won lot of awards such as telco of the year, etc, etc.. they also launch new attractive product such as Celcom Exec Plan, UOX, SOX, etc.. if i re-highlight last year performance

Q4 2008
DiGi: +294k (or +4 per cent) in fourth quarter
Celcom: +507k (or +6 per cent) in fourth quarter

Q1 + Q2 + Q3 +Q4 2008
DiGi: +653k (+ 10 per cent) in 2008.
Celcom: +1.56 million (+22 per cent) in 2008

Q1 2009
DiGi: +93k (or +1.3 per cent) in first quater
Celcom: +415k (or 4.7 per cent) in first quarter

by assuming digi launching 3g service in 2nd half of this year.. they need to do a very hard work to re-capture their market share. because they had left far behind by Celcom.

like they author said, foreign worker contribute huge portion of company profit and this year they will have a lot of problem. while celcom already deliver their 12th consequtive quarter of revenue and profit growth, digi net profit showing a decline somehow (since last year, and continue to decline this year).

and also, they need to spend a lot of capex for their new 3g service. celcom meanwhile already own the biggest and most extensive gsm and 3g infrastructure in malaysia.

so, it is very challenging year for digi this year. but dont worry, im sure digi can make it.. thumbup.gif

what she told me, user (students) enjoy 384kbps speed in rm50/month, instead of rm68. and the validity is 3 years.
is there anything more i should know about it, coz now thinking of subscribing it.. biggrin.gif

I have to say Celcom is doing very well nowadays. Their network quality is the best among the 3 telcos. I am using maxis now, and I have to say I notice the degradation of their network quality of late. Frequent drop calls, billing errors (getting a bit frustrating when you want to add in family lines), poor coverage.

I am just waiting for celcom to come out with a family plan similar to maxis "sharing credit" basis. If they launch that, I will port to Celcom , together with all the supplementary lines.
