Q1: What is Celcom Compass?
Celcom Compass is a full function GPS navigation Application for mobile phone, and is sold as a VAS (Value Added Service), available exclusively to Celcom customers.
All maps and data feeds are streamed to customers over Celcom mobile network. This application is localized to fit Malaysia environment. It provides a complete navigation experience, enabling users to find their way quickly and easily using turn-by-turn GPS navigation with voice instruction.
For the first phase, we’re targeting customer owning Blackberry GPS Phones, which at the moment are Storm 9500, Bold 9000, Bold 9700, Curve 8310, Curve 8900 and Pearl 8100.

- New Enterprise customers – both officials and employees, including SMI/SME. Especially those buying the new Blackberry Storm which is being launched together with Celcom Compass.
Q8: Is Celcom Compass also available for Retail customers?
Yes, it is also available for retail customers.
Data Package Guidelines
Q9: Are customers subscribing to RM12 MONTHLY PASS still able to use Celcom Compass if they unsubscribe before expiry date?
No. Once customer unsubscribe, they cannot use Celcom Compass any longer. If customer wants to use Celcom Compass again, customer needs to re-register. Therefore, to enjoy maximum usage of Celcom Compass, just let the subscription expire by itself (no need to unsubscribe), and cancel subscription for the following month (which will be prompted via SMS), if customer does not want to continue subscription.
Q10: Does customer who subscribe to Celcom Compass RM3 DAILY PASS need to unsubscribe when they do not want to use the application any longer?
No. Customer will automatically be unsubscribed once the daily pass expires (daily pass lasts for 24 hours). If customer wants to continue using the application, he/she needs to re-register for the daily pass.
Q11: Can existing Blackberry customer subscribe to Celcom Compass?
Yes, Existing & New Blackberry subscribers are also eligible to subscribe to Celcom Compass, as it is a VAS. What’s important to note here is that Celcom Compass is currently only made available for Blackberry phone with GPS receiver.
Q12: Would there be bearer charges when customer is using Celcom Compass?
No. Bearer charge has been set to zero for using Celcom Compass application. Customer just need to pay RM12 (monthly pass) or RM3 (daily pass).

Q13: How do customers subscribe to Celcom Compass?
- via SMS.
Type ON COMPASS and send to 26886
- User will then receive a URL to the Compass WAP site via SMS MT.
Click on the URL, and once user reach the WAP site, user needs to choose either one of the two plans shown on the WAP site:
o Monthly Pass (RM12 per month) – free for the 1st month of subscription
o Daily Pass (RM3 per day)
Q14: How do customers unsubscribe to Celcom Compass?
- via SMS.
Type OFF COMPASS and send to 26886
- *Note:
- If user is currently subscribed to the Monthly Pass, a reminder SMS will be sent two(2) days before his Compass subscription expires. If user do not wish to continue, user MUST reply to the SMS by typing “OFF COMPASS”, otherwise, the subscription will continue
- If user is currently subscribed to the Daily Pass, there is no need to unsubscribe, because the subscription will expire by itself at the end of 24 hours.
Q15: Does Celcom Compass support non-Blackberry devices, with GPS module?
- At the moment, NO. A compatible Celcom Compass application will be made available for other non-Blackberry devices, with GPS module, soon.
Q16: Can Celcom Compass be used while roaming?
- Yes, but roaming data charges apply and user will not be able to view foreign maps. In summary customers are advised not to use this application while roaming as they will only be able to view Malaysian Map & Malaysian Point of Interest only.
Q17: How is Celcom Compass different from the Blackberry map available inside the Blackberry device?
- Celcom Compass map will be updated from time to time, free of charge.
- The map is in 3D, and can be turned into portrait/landscape mode, depending on how you’re holding your phone.
- There are localized datasets/directories made available in Celcom Compass that are not available in Blackberry map.
- There’s a voice guided driving direction announcing street names in Celcom Compass. And there’s also step-by-step walking direction.

KUALA LUMPUR: Celcom (Malaysia) Bhd mencatatkan peningkatan dua angka bagi keuntungan sebelum cukainya pada tahun kewangan berakhir 31 Disember, 2008 dengan pertambahan sebanyak 24.4 peratus kepada RM1.755 bilion berbanding RM1.410 bilion pada 2007.
Pendapatan syarikat telekomunikasi selular mudah alih itu melonjak sebanyak 10.1 peratus kepada RM5.606 bilion daripada RM5.093 bilion sebelumnya.
Ketua pegawai eksekutifnya, Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly, berkata tahun 2008 menyaksikan keputusan kewangan terbaik dalam sejarah syarikat itu, hasil daripada rancangan pemulihannya dan strategi pemasarannya yang agresif.
"Kami juga merupakan satu-satunya pengendali mudah alih yang mencatatkan pertumbuhan pendapatan bagi 11 suku berturut-turut," katanya pada majlis taklimat media mengenai prestasi syarikat itu, di sini hari ini.
