Hi everyone,

I'm new to photography and a few of my friends introduced me to the LX3 as the best or at least one of the best compact semi-pros out there. I am based in Australia and I was wondering where would be the best place to purchase one of these babies in KL. A friend of mine is there until tomorrow.

I have read through the forums and have noticed that everyone is paying different prices for different packages, but the most common package is the camera, 4GB SDHC, and case from $1500-1600. The case also differs as well, some are hard and some are soft/polyester. Any advice is most welcome.

Cheers

any price in betwwen 1500 - 1600 is reasonable ....

Some how my photographer friend told me can forget about the P mode and go for Aperture priority or Shutter priority mode... Still need more exploration.

if u have sufficient time in taking a particular photo, you can use A, S, and M mode as you can play around with the settings and see what gives u the best output.
but if ur on the go and need to snap a photo in a short time frame, i think P or iA mode would be more feasible..

there are still a few units left at Aver Awards, e@curve (formerly cineleisure damansara)

price is 1599, 4gb card + soft case.

you can still bargain, and ask for screen protector.

Got the same casing as tycheah_7 pictured below, a hard leather casing.

Question from a n00b here, which mode should I use if I want to control both the shutter speed and exposure? I'm trying to do the bokeh (blur) effect but it's not working. I know I have to set it at a small F number (large aperture), but it still captures everything behind the subject. How to focus on the subject?

cool, good to hear you got the unit as well. You should ask them to back date your receipt to get the e-voucer rm150. I got my e-voucer and redeemed for an extra battery priced at rm157. Have to pay rm7 via credit card... lolz!

just bought LX-3 from Boeing Photoshop... Seems like 90% of shops i asked around lowyat and sg.wang does not have this model. Its like going 'hunting'... Finally got a good offer i suppose. RM1599 comes with case, Panasonic 4Gb Sdhc card and a cheapo small tripod...

Kindda like the case. Here a shot of it

I am trying to get a bag for my new LX3 too. I will put on a Pandabase adapter + tele/wide lens, so original bag will not fit.

which bag fits better?

I am looking at Crumple? But...1 or 2 million fits better? Anyone knows?

I'm using the 1 million dollar home, fits just rite for an LX3 + 46mm adapter + 1-2 filter(s). If include tele/wide lens, you might need the 2 million dollar home or larger.

The Tele and wide rests at the bottom of t he tlz. The adapter is attached to my camera all the time with PL filter Between the camera and the lens are the tele lens 's pouch that acts as seperater. There are still free space on the side to put the lenspen (vertically). At the top portion (zipped part) i put my macro and uv filter for quick reach. Theres the sd card case + extra sd card for quick change. The front part is where i put my spare battery (inside a case) My raynox lens.
