Minor pet peeve: I get annoyed when people pronounce Ultra-Wide Angle as ooowaaa.

"Albert, which ooowaaa you think is good ah?"
"Huh ooowaaa?"
"Ooowaaa lah!"
"What how do you spell that?"

I don't get my Fish-Eye pronounced as FEEE, fortunately!

So don't say, "You think GP two seven oh oh mah good ah?"

What can sifus here advise me on shooting at night times? i took plenty of shots, and most of them are not really satisfying.
I tried tweaking the shutter speed and aperture, but can't get some of the results as seen on the net

all of it are handheld shots,i don't have a tripod.

hmm.. can share the EXIF data ??
i think u didnt use long enuff exposure time... dats why no light trail..
diff place = diff brightness = diff reading = diff setting..
use small aperture.. use M-mode.. try many shutter speed...
u might need to shoot couple of time to get it right..

he wrote on top RM330.

now i know why RAW is better. I have 2 pics shot under super bright day light. JPEG: the sky is totally washed out leaving it white in color. RAW: The sky is bluish and nice:)need more CF cards i guess...

SpOOkY: Strange, shooting RAW+JPEG would give the same shutter speed and yet the JPEG should be underexposed (especially if DRO is on) because it will go into highlight-preservation mode.

If anything, you'll have to bring up the shadows in the RAW processor.

hey bro albert, yeah i was quite surprised too, when i wasnt happy with the shot with jpeg because the sky will be overexposed and too bright, hence i try shooting at RAW hoping that i can adjust it when i`m back. To my surprise, the pic looks better after conversion, the colors are much nicer too, maybe its the way i shoot for the jpeg is wrong ....not sure though smile.gif

last night, i tried shooting the moon, when i shot with jpeg, the moon is overexposed and the sky is black (wrong way of shooting.) when i shoot with RAW (wrong way of shooting too) the moon is overexposed too, but i can see white dots in the black sky..why ar?i deleted all pics coz its too ugly ..haha

The pictures are indeed strange - usually, you'll want to underexpose so you can bring the shadows up, but if you overexpose, highlights would be lost! So that must mean your camera has amazing highlight recovery.

Well I don't know, never tried to overexpose too much really. I end up underexposing and using Shadow Recovery instead of overexposing and setting a negative EV.

er, bro albert, can explain in a more layman term ar?

what do u mean by bring the shadows up?
highlights are?
highlight recovery?

saw i`m shooting portrait under super bright sun light, i have to overexpose the pic to get the correct exposure on the face, but then the sky will be washed out. can that be recovered by shadow recovey? what i will do is actually do bracketing, capture 1 with +2 ev, one with -2 ev and merge the pics:)

yeah since my cam is good, i dun need A700 adi hahahah...i will try shooting the moon agian tonight...

focus infinity, focal=70mm, f/11, -2 ev...lets see:)

SpOOkY: No, if a highlight is too bright, you use Highlight Recovery. If a shadow is too dark, you use Shadow Recovery.

Traditionally we are told that highlights cannot be recovered as well as shadows, which is why it is good to check the histogram after shooting to note any blinking highlights/shadows.

after almost a week using the siggy 24-70, i have one conclusion..

IT's FREAKING HUGE.. lol.. everywhere i go, i get those "special/weird" looks from people whenever i take out my cam.

IQ wise, my copy is pretty good. DOF at 2.8 is seriously shallow thus takes awhile to get used to focus. Most of the time i shoot in f4 and the pics are sharp with nice bokeh. Will put up some sample photos once my line is free to upload stuff. Colors is pretty vivid and warm just the way i like it.

The only headache i have with it is the slow focus. It hunts even in not so dark situation. Another thing that annoys me is when i already have my subject in focus, press the shutter and it goes to infinity focus and then refocus again. Really slows down the shooting.

Glad you liked this lens. Although I think your experience of slower AF speed is most probably caused by the body instead of the lens. I experienced no such slow AF speed on the A700 (so it is now time for you to upgrade to A700 *kysham LARI...... RACUN! laugh.gif * ). But yes you are right, it is one fine, sharp lens..... flex.gif
