NEED HELP!
Recently my civic was banged by another car.
The owner brought my car to repair and respray my driver side door.
I found a scratch on my window control armrest, maybe caused by the prying of a screwdriver during dismantling of the door panel.

Anyone can suggest what should i do?
Can the grey plastic thingie be replaced?
How much does it cost on average?

BIG THANK YOU!

hi. was just curious to see if anyone else with an fd1 has the same problem as me.

at speeds of above 110km/h, i can feel a lot of vibration (as if something was wrong with my tyres). when i tap the brakes, it seems as though the ABS has been activated (i.e. juddering brakes) .

this only happens at speeds in excess of 110km/h.

am i the only one with this isolated problem? or does anyone have any stories to share (especially if it points towards remediation!)?

thanks in advance for your help.

Vibration at speed >100kmph, or when u tap on the brake?
I sometimes do feel the judder when i brake, but the speed isn't constant.
Sometimes hi, sometime low also will happen.
I just brush this issue aside at the moment as its not affecting my daily driving.
Normally when it judders, i just depress the pedal and tap on it again and its gone.

i actually have two separate issues:
1. vibration at speeds above 110km/h
2. brake juddering when braking at speeds above 110km/h

i travel on the MEX highway for work daily, so i usually hit speeds above 110km/h and it can get very worrisome when these sort of things happen. i've scheduled to send my car in to have it looked it next weekend, but was hoping other users could shed some light on this as well.

You have 2 problem there. First your tyre balancing and angle of tyre(forget what they call it) run away. That will cause your steering vibrate when go high speed. Take it do the balancing, change the tyre front and back and realigment the angle. Aligment is most expensive of them all.

Second is the brake disc wobble or uneven. That cause your braking juddering either high or low speed. Your disc brake need to grind away a thin layer to flaten again like new. That should solve your problem.

Since there's a lot of Honda drivers here, my situation goes:

My dad's advice is get a Toyota since spare parts are easy to find and they come cheaper than Honda's.

My friend which is a car enthusiast says that Honda spare parts are expensive because Honda car rarely breaks down and needed those parts. Hence the situation of demand and supply here raises the prices of Honda spare parts.

What do you guys think? I liked Honda-makes though and planning to get one as my first car.

If true what your friend said, that mean Toyota car are always breakdown. That cause the toyota manufacturing to produce more spare parts. So the parts is cheaper?

Another way, honda car is rarely breakdown. So less spare parts in market and more expensive?

Is that mean also toyota car is better than honda? rclxub.gif hmm.gif I m confuse.

before u do the disc skimming, u shd change the brake pad first. my ride previously was vibrating when brake, after change brake pad solve the problem d, dun go for unnecessary disc skimming unless u still face the problem after u have change brake pad. btw, my suggestion is dun go for honda ori brake pad.

@Travies: thanks for the suggestion. did the vibration in your car happen at all speeds, or only at certain speeds? the problem in mine only occurs when braking above 110km/h. at lower speeds, i don't have this problem at all.

as for honda parts; if it comes to it, i'll probably use ori honda pads. car is still under warranty and i'd rather not void it yet.

problem i face previously was exactly the same as u. braking at high speed vibrate very rough and got sound and steering tremble.

u know what, honda quote me RM 550 for merely 2 pieces front brake pad and with installation. during the service, honda told me my front brake pad cannot use exceed the next 5k milleage. but i insist do not want to change as i havent hear any sound when braking so i used another 7k milleage end up recently go change, when i took out the brake pad and see, the brake pad still thick enough and probably left 40%. i wonder why honda ppl told me my brake pad is gonna finish which cannot use more than 5k. apparently the ppl there is not concern enough, they juz service our car blindly and they do tremendous profit.

i go to quicksafe USJ to install a better front brake pad only RM 300 with installation, at the shop they are also selling honda ori brake pad at RM 280 include install. erm i dun think changing brake pad will void the warranty, can anyone member confirm this?

Btw, honda civic hybrid is now RM 109k. Excited or sad? any members viewpoint?

It doesn't void the warranty if you use others brake pad. Just don't modify.

I have been driving for 4yrs. But I don't have all this vibration problem. Even speed up to 180kmh. Something wrong with driving style? hmm.gif

@Travies: thank you for the tip, sir. will definitely get my brakes checked out soon. most probably saturday, if time permits. i've had a lot of issues with servicing hondas in the past (used to drive EK series civic), but have 'settled down' with the SC i go to; so far so good for me. perhaps i'll have the brakes checked out first, and if the pads need a changing, i'll try the place that you mentioned.

@ozak: laugh.gif don't think it is a problem with my driving style(!); all i do is accelerate to 120km/h and then hit the brakes (not hard, just normal) - i can then immediately feel the vibration. there are no such incidents when driven below the 120km/h limit.

Are you always driving fast and hit the brake hard for short distance braking? How long you need to change a brake pad?

You always go through pod hole with high speed. Something like above 50kmh? Or driving non tar road alot?

The vibration problem I have is when my brake piston and the dust seal is spoil. That cause the brake pad clam to the disc and won't let go during driving.

@ozak: no sirree, i do not always go fast, nor perform sudden braking. i travel the MEX highway to work, so minimal pothole encounters wink.gif

@omnimech: i'm sorry to hear about your bad experience. in terms of price; i doubt you can get much of a difference. having said that, i have had very good service with the SA that i go to; if you like, you can PM me and i can give you his contact details. as i understand it, bank interest has fallen slightly, hasn't it? my folks recently took delivery of an accord @ 2.98%.

The first thing you do when get the new car is go and instal the third party alarm system. Alot of people think that their car won't get stolen and save the money to instal accessory.

This is the mistake.
