How they come out with this rate?
Voice Call 0.7 sen/sec
(35 sen/min) *

*Rates show inclusive of 20% airtime bonus when you top up your U Mobile 018 Prepaid

My formula ( less 20% since every topup they give 20% extra credit)
RM0.48/minutes x 80% =RM0.384/minutes

Why the earth they can come out with RM0.35/mintues?

20 April 2009 – KT Freetel (KTF), South Korea's second-largest mobile operator, is to sell-off its 16.5 percent stake in Malaysian mobile operator, U Mobile, reports Bloomberg. Citing a KTF regulatory filing, the report said that KTF will sell its 62.6 million shares in the operator to U Mobile's majority shareholder, U Television, in a deal said to be worth at least US$100 million. The sale is deemed to be a move by KTF to avoid losses on its investment. KTF and Japanese partner operator NTT DoCoMo (a stakeholder in KTF) bought a 33 percent stake in U Mobile in December 2007 for US$200 million with the stake divided equally between the two firms.

Since launch in 2007, U Mobile - a specialist 3G operator - has struggled to compete with its larger competitors in Malaysia, reportedly attracting less than 200,000 subscribers by the end of last year. According to Wireless Intelligence data, the market is led by Maxis, which had 9.7 million mobile connections by year-end, followed by Celcom (8.7 million) and DiGi (7.1 million).

Umobile will going to bankrupt lol..

if 0.7 sen per seconds, then it is 42 sen per minutes right?

RM0.42/minutes * 80% = RM0.336/minutes

Thank you.

if i'm not mistaken, 20% is not from call charge (0.7sen/sec) itself but from the topup that you make ...

i'm still figuring out how the heck they calculate it ...

Why not another way round?
$0.007/second x 60 = $0.42
Since its free 20% with topup
$0.42/minutes x 80% = $0.336

20% bonus is for the topup value, not the call charge itself

that's why they always put "20% bonus airtime for every topup" ... they didn't mention 20% bonus on your call rate ...

seriously, the way they put it is a bit misleading/confusing ...

these company didn't confident anymore with umobile after seing a bad business performance in 2008.

KTF bailing out may not be directly due to U Mobile itself, but due to its merging with 1-KT on 1st June 09.

whatever the case, we'll see after 1st June if U Mobile going to announce anything to the public (if any)
