Would like to know whether this Walkman can play ATRAC files. Would like to know the battery life too. If it is as amazing as other model's Walkman which is 36 hours, this player would be the best for its price.

No ATRAC, just MP3, AAC and WAV. Battery life is reported 33/9 hours for audio/video.

where did u preorder it?might be interested...

as toughnut said, it'll probably only playback the common mp3/aac/wav files....afaik, the only walkmans that can play atrac are now only released in japan since they haven't abandoned the format yet....

i got poisoned by the active noise cancelling...
u dun really need proper sealing...u already cant hear anything...

Noise cancelling. OLED display. Wifi. 33 hours battery life. S-Master. I must say.. WOW!

xandman, why bother with NC when u getting ES3X? LOL. NC only work with Sony bundled IEM.

IMHO, ES3X is waaaaaaay better than the bundled IEM . Very tempting, but does the built-in S-Drive amp able to drive PFEs adequate enough. Also lack of FLAC and OGG/Vorbis do make me think twice, trice,...

not an apple fanboy or anything but do pardon me fo'bein the crap disturber (i am yes i am ) but de only dept tis sony may (& i emphasize MAY) have it over the touch is in 2channel SQ & perhaps video display. but even then it gonna be contentious fo sho.

in all other areas, tis sony will stand a snowballs chance in hell of beatin the touch. heres why..

1.touch has tons & tons & tons & tons & well u get de idea of apps tat turns it into a true PDA cum GPS cum workhorse cum every bell&whistle tat a geek could want.

2.touch has tons & tons & tons & tons & well u get de idea of games tat makes it match fo'any porty gamin system short of the mitey PSP (but even then )

3.while tis new sony mite hav wifi, nothing i mean NOTHING beats da apple safari experience on a small screen net device! if anyone disagrees i suggest they go try it out & we can take it from there

so u see boys&gals while de sony mite be a fine media player, da touch is so so so much more. sony will hav to do much better to even compete. u can bank on tat

but im waitin for the 3rd gen 1st...as speculation suggested...well the noise cancelation thingy aint much
to be honest...the new sony makes no major upgrade either other than the capacity...lets see how the new touch fare 1st...

I'm still wishing for Sony small+slim tactile control player with S-Master amp. Dont really need large OLED touchscreen, WiFi, NC or any other added functions. If S630F being upgraded with S-Master, i'm gonna get one

Btw, scottie, that's true. In terms of apps/games/wifi, it's no contest. Touch grabs the bag. But if really need WiFi, there's other better options.
