not an apple fanboy or anything but do pardon me fo'bein the crap disturber (i am yes i am ) but de only dept tis sony may (& i emphasize MAY) have it over the touch is in 2channel SQ & perhaps video display. but even then it gonna be contentious fo sho.

in all other areas, tis sony will stand a snowballs chance in hell of beatin the touch. heres why..

1.touch has tons & tons & tons & tons & well u get de idea of apps tat turns it into a true PDA cum GPS cum workhorse cum every bell&whistle tat a geek could want.

2.touch has tons & tons & tons & tons & well u get de idea of games tat makes it match fo'any porty gamin system short of the mitey PSP (but even then )

3.while tis new sony mite hav wifi, nothing i mean NOTHING beats da apple safari experience on a small screen net device! if anyone disagrees i suggest they go try it out & we can take it from there

so u see boys&gals while de sony mite be a fine media player, da touch is so so so much more. sony will hav to do much better to even compete. u can bank on tat

if im not mistaken, apple ipods owns 75-80% of the porty media player market with sansa begining the next closest competitor at 9% or so. creative comes in next -i think- at round 5% & pooor sonys like 1/2 of tat! maybe 20yrs ago sony was a titan with the 'walkmans' but sadly it aint sooo for a loooonnnnng time - mainly thru their own misguided arrogance...hint hint sonic..cough..stage..ugggghh vomit- but thats another sad story fo another cold rainy sad day

regardless i do bliv sony was always better sonically & it wont be a surprize if tis new player will follow that trend. whats sad is that this only has relevance to a <1% minority -tats us btw- but in the meantime but apples sooo far ahead now it aint funny.

all asides though, touch is still da superior overall gadget by far

hey guys had a chance to checkout the new Sony X1060b a few days back & i must say its pretty nice as a media & music player. dont quote me now but i think SQ's better than S6/7xx series but its kinda to tell just spending 15mins or so. teh display is prolly one of the best in the market.

however IMO i still dont think its gonna displace the touch anytime soon though. music aside, theres just too much support for the touch -over 20k apps/games available- plus apples multitouch screen with safari is unbeatable for a PMP net experience.

personally as much as im a gadget freak, i wouldnt buy one primarily becos its laaarge coin & too 1dimensional for me that is. the chinese AMP3 mp3 player is what i'd get as a pure music player while the touch will do me for everything else. where i am, i can get a slightly used 32gb touch for almost 1/2 of the X1060. eeeek! LOL
