Does the chances for getting slai or rlka for non-bumi high? How long the time i need to wait to be called for interview?
I have a planning to pursue my phd in overseas, to leave comfort zone and explore another region of the world.

my fair opinion. your pointers during bachelor deg is on the low side, but you should be able to compensate it with your industry experience, so it boils down to how impressive your CV is and your conduct during interview.

also, bear in mind that the premier IPTAs only accept PhD holders, but you can try other IPTAs and also IPTS. Good luck smile.gif

with 8-10 years u will not start at the bottom ler. if u have some serious experience under ur belt, especially if u're one of the industry leaders (in whatever manner), they can straight away give u associate professorship.

assoc prof starts at RM6k. and usually they will still let u practice.

meaning u earn RM5k in practice plus RM7k in academia.

and a full professorship will get u RM11k easy.

i'm a full time lecturing architect wink.gif

as academician in a particular field, the university expects me to always be up to date with the industry, hence none other way better than practicing itself. interestingly with UTM, we have our own consultancy group where experts in a particular field get together and take outside job under the UTM brand name.

so basically it's our own architectural firm, headed and manned by our own professors and lecturers. here it's called Institut Sultan Iskandar, which was established about 20 years ago. we've done a number of project from single buildings to entire township. the most famous job that we've done is the Kuala Lumpur Structure Plan 2020 wink.gif.

and no, it's not part time. a lecturer has 7 responsibilities, and teaching is just one of it. others like research, publication, industrial practice, consultancy and so on are part of our job. up till today, i scarcely brought home work.

Of course you can as long as that private university is an accredited university in Malaysia.
