lol.... coz people are afraid to accept the fact that maltese (in fact any dog) should be gotten from a proper responsible reputable breeder, so they dont dare to post here and get corrected/educated....

To begin, this post is not directed specifically to any individual. In fact, it is directed to ANYONE and EVERYONE who is thinking of giving their dogs out as studs or letting their b**ches get pregnant.
BREEDING IS NOT A CHILD'S PLAY!! BREEDING REQUIRES LOTS OF STUDYING AND RESEARCH!! Breeding is not just about putting two dogs together and mate, then "poof!" you get cute little puppies! Each breed has it's specific standards that have been set many years ago and recorded. Even then, not all puppies produced by 2 very excellent examples of the breed (which means the sire & dam have gone through conformation test and have gotten the approval of experienced judges) will give you 100% puppies following the standards. By mating just two random dogs without going through conformation test, the standards of each breed will be destroyed slowly. For example the standards of the Maltese breed in Malaysia is NOT up to par with the written standards, which is why we need to strive to have maltese within the standards. To achieve that, no one should randomly put 2 maltese to breed! Putting standards aside, for pregnant dogs to give birth is for them to take risks of losing the puppies, their lives or BOTH. Do you as her owner want to see her take such risks just so that you can satisfy your pocket with extra cash? Do you as her owner want to see her take such risks just so that you can naively let your children watch birthgiving and risk them losing their pet as well? What if there was an emergency during whelping and the vet is not reachable? What if the mother dies during whelping? What if she refuses to care for her pups after they are born? Have you as her owner done your part in reading up on whelping and taking care of newborn puppies? Have you as the owner make sure she has conform to the breed standards? Has she been tested to NOT CARRY genetically inherited diseases? Because the puppies will inherit them from their mother! So for those offering their dogs as stud service, now you think, I'm just offering a service, it is up to the b""ch's owner to accept or not, it is up to them to read up on all these complicated stuffs. Think again. If stud service is not readily available, do you think it will be easy to find a dog to mate? If there is no stud available, how does the b**ch get pregnant then? As a person offering stud service, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to make sure your dog fulfills the breed standard through conformation AND passes genetic testings as well to be free of genetically inherited diseases BECAUSE half of the puppies gene comes from YOUR DOG! THINK & RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BREED! This post has been edited by CyaNide27: Dec 6 2010, 10:04 PM |

you can try to approach Frederf, Kinzonu or White Palace.... (in no particular order....)
alot of us got our maltese from either of them as they are reputable.... price of course will depend on the quality of the maltese and care given to them by the breeder.... This post has been edited by CyaNide27: Jan 22 2011, 11:48 PM |

their hair do tangle very fast, especially if you have more than 1 dog at home and they play with each other....
even our human hair also will constantly tangle as we go on with our daily task right? difference is that we can comb our hair once in awhile but the dogs cant comb on their own.... hahaha.... |

QUOTE(Divas @ Feb 5 2011, 07:42 PM) When you shave a coat it will grow back coarser (and sometimes curlier) in the same way if you shave your legs/armpits the hairs will grow back thicker. For some dogs the texture change will be very little, but for some (like your girl) it will make a huge difference. Divas, does that mean if you use scissors to cut their fur short like how we get our haircut in saloons, their fur wont become curly? If your dog isn't doing well on the fish oil, try Primrose Oil instead, it has the same effect, but is from a different source. You can also use a conditioner to try and soften her coat up a bit. If you have a regular groomer, perhaps ask them not to use a clipper for a while (they might charge you 'show groom' prices for full scissoring unless you want to grow her coat out to full length), your groomer could also do a series of treatments (very similar to conditioning treatments you get at the salon for yourself, but formulated for dogs) to try and get the softness back. The curliness will be more likely to go away once her coat has regained the softness (soft hair is heavier so pulls the coat straight), also if her coat is kept longer (more coat is also heavier) it will help remove the curls. Finally when you brush her, encourage her coat to grow downwards (so make a parting in the middle and brush out to the sides along her back) which will help straighten it a little as well. Hope your girl's coat gets back to glorious Maltese softness soon |

this is something interesting! afterall, our hair after a haircut is sometimes used to spun into wigs, i'm sure we could do something with our furkids' fur/hair....
If i knew about this earlier, i would have found some way to keep some of her puppy coat.... are dogs fur biodegradable/do they rot to be used as fertilisers for plants? coz in the case of human hair, it stays as hair even after we are 6 feet under for many years.... @.@ |
