There's no "starter kit".

Start with this --> tangentsoft.net.

OPAMPs can be gotten at element14, the rest can be bought at jalan pasar. You'd have to buy your own parts.

The old diyamp thread (V1) has tons of info, dig through it and ye shall find gold.

Thanks, y haven't you guys added the stuff there in the first post. Lots of good reading there. I decided to pick up a Cmoy kit first (if i manage to find one), juz for practice my soldering n mess around with few op-amps, then maybe move on to bigger things smile.gif

edit: i'm thinking of getting this http://cgi.ebay.com.my/Banzai-V2-CMOY-Head...=item4aadfacd30 but i'm not sure about the op-amp. Rarely hear ppl talking bout it. Issit worth it to get this now n juz switch the op amp to let's say 2227 in the future?

Wanna ask sifu-sifu here. I'm new to the DIY world. My first project is to replace the capacitors in an amplifier. I wish to get some recommendations for the capacitors for the replacement. The amp I'm using is hybrid tube type. Got 4 220uf 400v (for Psu I think), a few 47uf 16v and a few 22uf caps. I guess blackgate are hard to come by. Is Elna silmic ii good? How bout the big fat Psu caps? What caps are recommended? Availibities wise? Many thanks in advance.

I'm not sure and they are very old. I have heard Elna silmic are good. But they are hard to get? Also got advise for some panasonic FCs. I think I will go for the FCs. I would probably go for FC. But now the problem is with the Power supply caps, which needs 100uF 400v which are not available for FC series. Are they going to affect the quality alot if I use the ED/EE type from panasonic or any other recommendations? Anyone here can source the Elna caps if they are available?

Hello guys.. I'm new to DIY amplifiers and i saw this circuit (http://williamneo.blogspot.com/2008/03/most-simply-diy-instruction-on-cmoy.html) which looks fun and simple to make.. I don't know a thing about op-amp rclxub.gif ... I see this circuit uses the OPA2227 but can i replace it with MC1458, LM358 or TL072 which is easier for me to get ? biggrin.gif I know i can get the 2227 at element14 rolleyes.gif .
Just answer the one in bold rclxms.gif

Thanks in advance..

I won't give u an answer but here are the links to four of the datasheet you mentioned in yr questions..

Read them and compare their specs, application usages...etc..

I think the 3 op amp you mentioned are not so suitable for professional audio applications...

Aztronics seems to sell a few types of audio op amp...

Ok.. thanks for the links... rclxms.gif

Now i got 1 more question... What's the difference (performance) between this http://williamneo.blogspot.com/2008/01/diy...lifier-for.html and this http://williamneo.blogspot.com/2008/03/mos...on-on-cmoy.html if using the OPA2227...? Why does one use 1x9v while the other use 2x9v ?
