Nicely done..  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

A few comments...

1. Why didn't u use the same DC plug for both AC Adapter & 9V battery.. and save some components ( I guess u didn't buy an extra DC jack for the 9V snap on )

2. Use single-core wires for components on the prefboard, easier to solder ( I guess you didn't have single-core wires during yr constructions stage )

3. I notice the wires leading to audio in and out is different sizes joint by heat shrink wrap... this is not good for impedance matching, just use a same type of wires across... from a thick wires to thinner wires , the signal might change a bit..

How the sound quality compared to without the amp ?
*
1. I can't use the 9V on the DC jack because it goes through a 12V regulator.. My input voltage needs to be at least 14V. And they're both different jack so i won't confuse myself  blush.gif

2.  Single-core wires?  rclxub.gif  I newbie here lol.. I did use a thinner cable on my first attempt but i find it very easy to snap, so on my 3rd attempt, i used a thinker cable..

3. The pot and audio jack has been connected (1 type of cable) earlier to be tested before connecting to the circuit (another type of cable) on the first attempt. That's why it's different cable on the 3rd attempt.. The in and out went through the same cable, a thick and thin...  sweat.gif

I'm still very happy with it as this is my first project  thumbup.gif .. About sound quality, i don't really know how to describe  shakehead.gif .. I think the bass and soundstage are improved ..  cool.gif

Had some problems with my Cmoy on a stripboard vmad.gif , so I decided to make another one using a breadboard and it worked.. Then, I soldered all the components on a new stripboard and still had problems  rclxub.gif . After touching the circuit, shaking up and down, moving here and there, and brushed the flux off with a little bit of water; it finally worked.  thumbup.gif I abandoned the TLE2426 as it was causing me problems too (bad soldering) and used the resistor divider instead (470uF). This Cmoy uses a TLE2072 op-amp, 0.15uF input caps, 2kΩ resistors (gain 6), 2x10kΩ Pot (each controlling one channel). My Cmoy can be powered either by battery or AC-DC adapter (controlled by switch). The AC-DC jack on the Cmoy is connected to the resistor divider through a Voltage Regulator which throws 12V as the output while the battery jack is connected straight to the resistor divider. Enjoy the photos...  rclxm9.gif

I like my wires tongue.gif No one is gonna open and see it when listening to it haha icon_idea.gif Actually all my problems were noises.. I manage to get rid of the noise on my final product.. I only have a slight noise (only at high volume, which i don't really reach that high) when it is powered by the ac-dc adapter.. The battery power is silent thumbup.gif

That means your AC/DC adapter is not regulated

Ooo.. So that's what cause the noise at high volume.. Does the voltage regulator that i built reduce the noise (all i know is it makes sure it outputs 12V)?

Added on November 15, 2011, 11:45 pmEh bro, i just noticed something. When using AC/DC Adapter, and my source is my laptop, the noise is there when set to above listening volume. But when my source is my phone, i only hear the noise when volume is all the way up (max) on the amp. When my source is my ipod or no source, max volume also no noise icon_rolleyes.gif .. I'm guessing my power is not causing the noise now, but it's my source..

Since u already build a regulator inside,then don't think it's AC/DC adapter's problem...

Try to re route all those grounding wires to the input ground

Pls look at this link about bypassing & decoupling... if the input power is not clean ( too much ripples in voltages ), it might affect the output of the op amp signals too...

http://www.williamson-labs.com/480_byp.htm

Something for you to think about with those long wires...

I measure AC Adapters ( heavy ones with transformers inside ), their voltage level do fluctuate quite a lot....put a few ceramic capacitors to smoothen the voltage level...

If your multimeter can measure relative voltage, hook it to the output of the LM7812 and check for voltage ripples... put some 100nF ceramic capacitors to smoothen it a bit... and measure again...

All the grounds should be connected together.

thanks guys for helping. I think i'll not touch anything from this amp anymore. I can't hear the noise at listening volume so i wont bother. I'll make the improvements on my next project (if i do). biggrin.gif

Added on November 18, 2011, 1:38 pmguys, if i were to make another cmoy using a 100k pot (possible?) , what are the values of resistors/capacitors should i use?

Hi guys, i'm now looking at the 'starving student' and was wondering which heatsink to use. How about this - http://malaysia.rs-online.com/web/p/heat-sinks/2212148/ ? And can anyone link me to the things needed to attach the IRF510 to the heatsink? Also, where to find a 48V 0.38A powersupply for cheap?

Thanks notworthy.gif

Hi everyone,
I would like an opinion.
I am going to build my own amp for our outdoor dance practice.
can you guys recommend me a good amplifier IC for me to use and speakers Watt rating that will suffice.
it doesnt need to be loud but sometimes when it rains,we need to pump the volume up louder because of the noise.

I would also like to be able power it using a Ni-MH 7.2V 1800mAh battery from a RC car that is lying around in my house.

thanks

Asking for directions.

Is there any bus service connecting KLCC to Jalan Pasar (or vice versa)?

the nearest LRT station is Pudu. it's 2 minute walk from there.

Metrobus might go there but I'm not sure.

Thanks.
I asked people at Jln Pasar about busses and they don't know either.
I found the LRT and took it to KLCC changing at Masjid Jamek stop.
The new integrated ticketing system no longer requires you to step out of the building to buy the Kelana Jaya line tickets.

Hello Guys,
I have a noob question,hehe
let's say I have a step down transformer rated at 12V,2A

does the load circuit will draw the amp that they need or will the power supply release 2A to the circuit?

thanks.
