not hard.

i started dabbling after SPM, without any prior knowledge in electronics.

Resistor colours got online calculators

http://www.dannyg.com/examples/res2/resistor.htm

This is a good books for electronics :

http://www.amazon.com/Make-Electronics-Dis...t/dp/0596153740

From basics components, to soldering to integrated circuits (Chips)...

Or free online resources on electronics on my bookmarks :-

Actually I did my first rewiring of IEM, due to the IEM speaker driver so kecil... Make till I so hard to solder, at last I accidently soldered the cover. Now hardly close it back so I only use cellophone tape and stick it back.

It's hard to solder because of the enamel layer.

You'd have to crank the heat up and melt the enamel layer first so you expose the copper wire which sticks better.

Regarding the AD797,suggest you order from Element14 (formerly known as Farnell).

About the 2xSOIC8 to DIP8 adapter, you can try Ebay

There car audio amplifier mostly a same only there are dc-dc converter, where from normal 12-18V car to +- 60V. To fine a well working dc-dc converter is the most challenging in making a car power amplifier.

You also can find a power amplifier circuit that using single rail 12v with output in bridge mode but the RMS will be much lower.

I am sorry i cannot find anymore my car audio power amplifier schematic since my pc harddisk crash. (dumb me not do backup). I hope that this will help you. Find a 12v converter that output at desire voltage and combine with power amplifier. and you will have a car audio amplifier.

There are some kits that are based on those TDA chips I used to see in Jalan Pasar,KL. 12VDC working voltage very suitable for car audio applications. I do not know if those kit amps are still being sold now.

Check out this link I found:

nanhifi, too bad your hard disc crashed bro.. there goes all your collection of circuits.. sad.gif

Those simple rotary ones are available in Jalan Pasar KL. Few ringgit.
More elaborate/sophisticated ones are from online suppliers.. ebay especially.

To find out the resistance value of a resistor, i just use a multi meter to measure it's resistance.
Isn't that easier, faster and error free compare to reading it's colour and calculate the value?
normal resistor is enough for audio circuit, unless you are doing the instrumentation circuit than you need metal film resistor which has lower +- means its value is more precise).
