You should try uptown damansara Joo Ngan and son, just next to Village Park Nasi Lemak... Just got my Dahon boardwalk D8 from there on thursday smile.gif

It's worth the extra bucks. IMHO!

I saw Dahons in Tat Seng Cycles in Taman Anggerik, they also have a branch in Kota Kemuning. GW Cycles also have them but GW cycles are quite expensive. I also saw 2 units in Joo Ngan's Son in D'sara Uptown. I think you need to bargain with him, HARD!

I think the Dahon Boardwalk D8 is the limited anniversary version. It has 8 speed and also double walled rims. They also come in a special green colour or white off course.

If you visit them and are serious, there's still some discount.

I am thinking of selling off my Eco 7 hmm.gif Anyone interested?

Dahon Speed P8

Dahon Eco C7

I was browsing around a local bike shop near my place and I came across this shop which stock Louis Garnaeu, Doppelganger, Oscar and also Dahons. I got another Dahon Eco C7 for my family (I decided to keep using foldies now). Those looking for Eco C7, there are still 2 units left ( black and red, white taken by me) rclxms.gif Also there's another Speed P8 there. He's willing to change to 8 speed for me and he is charging RM80 for shifters, RM50 for 8 speed freehub and another RM75 for Acera RD. So it should be called Eco C8 now! laugh.gif

The shop is located on the road to Carrefour Taman Tun Hussein Onn, from the Saga Highway just before the toll, turn right and on the left. So, you need to do a U-turn. Kimbell Jaya, only one shop there. Also easy to negotiate, nice guy. William, I think.

No, sorry. Was planning to upgrade to Speed P8 but I have bought another Eco C7 as my daughter is also riding. But you can still get it at 1K for a new unit. There's another two units left near my place.

Another different matter. I am planning to do a weekly ride, meaning we ride every Sunday in Putrajaya. Will start from Alamanda and ride along the lakeside paved track. A complete loop is about 25 km. Those interested can join me for the ride. I will be doing it every Sunday unless there's some big rides elsewhere. Please feel free to contact me if you want to join in. The ride wil start at 7.00am and will usually end before 9.00am. We can do longer if there is a majority who wants to. we can continue until the Botany Park. icon_rolleyes.gif

There's a few option if you want to cycle up Air Itam dam. Easiest is to change the front crank to a roadie bike's crank with 53/39 T and add in a front derailleur and also shifter. The smaller 39T will make the pedalling easier but you also cannot forego the 53T as you will need it too on flat roads. Another is to change to 9 speed which needs your hub to be changed to accomodate the 9 speed 11/34 or 11/36 tooth cassette. This also needs the shifter to be changed and also the rear derailleur. I think modifications to the crank will suffice but off course it would be nice to do both front and rear.

I too plan to ride up Fraser's Hill one day and still trying to train myself up. I modified all the Dahons to 8 speed ( except the Speed P8 which already comes with an 8 speed gearing)with 34T (lowest gear) and plan to look for a used roadie crank and the front derailleur to add later.

Another cheaper option is to train yourself biggrin.gif You have to first pedal at your comfortable level then as you improve try then to pedal at a higher gear (harder) and finally you can use the highest gear at flat roads comfortably. Then increase your cadence ( your rpm on pedalling ) and up to a certain comfortable level. The cadence must be maintain at all gears at the same pedalling force. Once you acheive this, I think you should be able to cycle up the dam at the lowest 28 tooth gear.

Just starting to cycle up the dam at this instance is not possible unless you push and ride, push and ride, where push is more than riding and going down, you need to get used to the bike itself as first time foldie users will find the steering twitchy! thumbup.gif Happy riding!

hey thanks for the input bro!

so basically the cheapest n easiest is to make it 2 x 7 speed right? any idea how much would that cost?

n me too wanna train so that i can ride up itam dam on a foldie n therefore improving my stamina n strength but it's gonna take a toll on my knee i'm sure. barely reached the temple yday n knee already sore. doh.gif

had no problem riding all the way up one shot on a 30-speed mtb though last month
