I've bought a doppelganger....anyway, i changed my order from road bike to cross-bike which is doppelganger 823 Shadow. Just ordered it.

Btw, here's the link Doppelganger 823 Shadow

Anyway, i'm living here in Japan as a student....& the doppelganger brand is quite famous here because japan made product. So, maybe you can ask anything about doppelganger if you have any question, i'll find the answer and translate the japanese meaning to you guys here.

*if i'm able to help.... biggrin.gif

i think, the gear change for front, is one really 'deep' click, to up shift, then it will shift.
it can't work like the rear where u can shallow click then shift, cos rear has 8 steps, where as front is just one.

Hi,

I'm a newbie looking for foldie, zero knowledge on bikes (technically, especially parts). Already read the entire of this forum and others.

I'm overwhelmed with all the brands & models of folding bikes available and couldn't decide which to purchase.

Bike in mind to have the following:
-light weight
-able to roll
-easy folding
-small size after fold, able to fit into a Kelisa car boot that is
-budget wise < RM3k
-for normal fitness riding & touring maybe; not for competition

At first saw the video of Tern-Verge X10, like the colour & it's lightweight and when I got to know the price nearly fainted. Slightly expensive.

Is Ori bike worth the buy? anyone riding this, can give some comment? cos I couldn't really find review on Ori, looks like not many people using or just merely no review.

Doppelganger -bluegate suggested by pskk, look very trendy with the colour combination.

On the folding mechanism, folding the body/frame vs folding the rear & front wheels, which is better? or it is up to the individual preference?

Appreciate some advise and recommendation.

Thanks.

hi,

let me share a bit of experience i went thru b4 i bought my 1st bike last wk.

weight n size of fold u can find on d specs of bike.usually more light means more expensive.
better take ur car n try fold size if can fit into ur car boot b4 buy.

not sure wat u mean by able to roll...

i compared ori & tern b4 buy.
summary by salesperson, ori is like bmw while tern is like camry.
not sure below $3k can get ori...models i saw was ar9, m series sports.
i thk fold at front n rear wheels better than at mid frame cos logic tells me a frame with no joint is better than a frame with one....but tat is juz my opinion.

i thk below $3k, u hv many options.don't get a cheap one as wear n tear on cheap one is faster n will not last u for years unless u juz wan try 1st later upgrade.

get one tat fits d description of ur rides. better yet get one tat can be upgraded, eg convert 9 speed into
18 speed.

i tried many of my frens foldie b4 buy, i juz wan to say tat good handling, comfort, etc comes with a price.
try test d bike b4 buy.

lastly i din try out doppelganger cos i had my eyes set on ori n tern.

Added on November 4, 2012, 3:48 pmoh yeah i forgot to add....
there are parallel imports bike tat r cheaper than those fm local appointed distributors.
be careful as d specs differs.
i found ori ar9 which abt $400 cheaper but it uses lower specs n it's parallel import.
