well, i'm not a dahon fanboy.

i get a dahon because it has a model that i like, and suits my budget.
i can't find any other folding bike model that looks like that, simple as that.

My view of Dahon is, that it caters to a wide range of cyclist, it has a wide range of
bicycle models ( as of 2011), a wide range of design, it doesn't make ridiculous
stuff like carbon fiber/titanium folding bike that cost over 10K.

i agree that the price is a bit expensive, but the build quality is there,
folding bike is more difficult to make as well, not all folding joint is there same.
and also there is no competitor for certain models.
can u find a model from other brand that is almost the same as the X10?

Hi all,

Did my survey today in :-

Segambut & Kepong-2Fast 4U-Unable to find the Orbit(arriving next month) but they got Element(I think so) which is not what i want but they got a Hummer Foldable in Bright Yellow which is a Mountain bike which is very, very nice & way over my budget which is around RM1,300 if I didn't heard wrongly.

Sg.Buloh-Found 3 of the shops which is suggested but mainly is Mountain, Fixie and only a few of Foldable.Mostly carry XDS brand going for around rm700-1,100++...

Sg.Way-Tukang Basikal Fook Sang(1 of PJ old timer shops)- They carry Dahon, Hasa M2, Raleigh & local brand, the owner if I not mistaken quite friendly and give good advice and recommendation.

Majority of the shops provide quite good services and really give good info, Thumbs up to them!!

So, anyone looking for bikes can go visit them...& I will continue to do my survey till I found a suitable one

Btw, special thanks to H2D & inkyoctopuss for the info of these outlets

Anyway, if anyone here is selling your bikes I wouldn't mind buying it 2nd hand from anyone in here if it is in good condition and to my preferences/likeness.

Cheers!

Say, actually I don't really mind the price as long as the bike suits me and is worth the price tag. Money wise, I'll just have to work and save up for it.
Honestly, I have only started looking at foldies since yesterday, so havent seen much yet.
My criterias are durability > comfort > speed > price. Any models you'd recommend?

so far Dahon offers the widest range in Malaysia.
i think most important is how much are you willing to spend?

the dahon speed p8 is pretty good to start with, it is versatile n robust,
u can mod it, fit it with racks for touring, looks good,
this is a modded version.

Dahon is popular in japan, the new 2012 Speed P8, there are 5 colours there,
this colour looks really nice

umm, say less than 5k preferably? nothing too expensive lah, beh tahan. the vector x10 is considered quite expensive for me already. sweat.gif

from what i've seen on youtube, that Speed P8 moves way too slow.

p.s. by durable i meant it shouldnt break apart easily. doesnt have to be a bike that can go on rough terrains.

bro, slow depends on how fast u cycle mah.
u cycle fast it moves faster la.. ;D
the crank, i think is 53T?
biggest they put is 55T, wan bigger have to custom,
u wan fast u mean u want it lighter, skinny tyre? better parts?
then get the X10 lor. or u wait for Tern bike, see got model ngam u ornot. smile.gif

Yeah, more gears. I like a wide range of gears.

Im interested in the Tern bikes. Especially the Verge x10. Seems like its 95% similar to the Dahon Vector x10. If its cheaper I may probably get it.

Am liking the Verge P18 and x30h. But from what I've read, the earlier posts, the x30h is too expensive for me.

TERNs will be more expensive the Dahons. So if you like the Vector, buy it now why wait? 5k will buy you plenty of bike.

The Dahon vector series have been discontinued i think,
maybe they choose not to compete with Tern, cos Tern comes out with Verge series
is almost the same as Vector.

So if u can get Vector in Msia, better grab it, very likely Tern bikes will be more
expensive.

Prices of low to middle models of Dahon in Msia is much lower than overseas this year,
if u do a direct conversion frm prices in SG, Japan, Taiwan n USA.

the vector X10 is 186.900 yen
